Deus Ex Remake? (Spoilers)

I did watch the after credits scene, but there was something else...

I never finished the first one, so I figured this terminal I hacked must be a reference to the original Deus Ex. It was a level 5 terminal towards the end of the game that I got an achievement for hacking. Anyone else get this? Is the message in the terminal some kind of foreshadowing to a Deus Ex remake?

Hanger 18 is the hanger that was supposed to contain the UFO that crashed at roswell

I think the coded message unlocked the whole dlc thing.

It's lyrics to the song 'Hangar 18' by Megadeth. The computer's login is also 'mstaine', as in Megadeth's Dave Mustaine. Much as I'd like to think it's a secret hint to a sequel, I'm pretty sure it's just a little easter egg - like Robocop being an interactable NPC in the police station.

I was under the impression that HR heralded a reboot of the series rather than a direct prequel. If they make something based around Deus Ex it will not be a direct remake, it will be the rough plot and themes of Deus Ex as imagined by these new creators. They couldn't replace the original if they tried.

I think this is a good compromise really. We get to see this wonderful and suprisingly competent reimagining of one of our favourite games whilst KNOWING that it exists in tribute rather than competition.

Or maybe they will shit on it. I've been wrong before about these things

I'm not sure if HR can be considered a complete reboot (I do seem to recall in a video one of the designers stating that while the game could be seen as a reboot, it was also a prequel to the first game).

After all, there so may references to elements of the Deus Ex it seems like this game was set up to be a definite prequel to Deus Ex. To name a few of those references:

The guy rambling in the basketball court in Detroit during the riots makes some slightly cryptic references to both the Grey Death and Majestic 12.

A computer you access at some point hints at the possibility of the UN forming a global anti-terrorism force. What, like some kind of United Nations Anti-Terrorism COalition?

We know Bob Page is in there, and the Versalife involvement is hard to miss, plus there's also the few e-mails you see going around from a Joseph Manderley. Also, the Everett Page is talking to during the post-credits sequence is more than likely the same Morgan Everett for DX.

Then, during the riots in Detroit (though I guess it could be heard elsewhere), the Picus report refers to one Beth DuClare, yet another character from DX

Didn't mean for that to be so big a list, but anyway, with so many common factors in there, prequel now seems a more likely thing than a reboot.

I own the first game, but if they redid the models and the textures and charged 15-20 bucks for it on XBLA, i would buy it.

Oh and by the way, HR is not a reboot.

It said something about amnesia. I THINK it might be that Adam saw too much in the DLC and was put into selective amnesia about the events. The first Deus Ex had Grays, which were the clones of the Roswell aliens. Assuming that Adam saw these creatures, then I think it'd be reasonable to why he'd be put under selective amnesia.

I'm aware of all those factors but I don't see how that stops this from being a reboot. Why should the Manderley referenced in HR be exactly the same one we found in Deus Ex? Just because it's a reboot doesn't mean it can cut out all the major themes and characters. *cough cough xcom cough*

In the likely dire spiderman reboot spiderman is still a character. Some of the same villains are likely to turn up and Mary Jane will still be taken hostage/be too dumb to notice that she's two timing her boyfriend with himself.
