Nah, more like the (and pardon me for tying another post to a Joss Whedon work, but I just can't help it) Dawn to the first one's Buffy. They're both great, just each in their own way, and I won't fault you for preferring either one over the other (yeah, that double entendre was intentional, and the next two sentences don't apply to the analogy). As a sequel to Deus Ex, IW is bad. As it's own game, it's good.
Your comparisons intrigue me.

I tip my head to you, good Sir.

Yeah invisible war has its problems but its still not a bad game and i'm glad I played it, it is just very much in the shadow of the original.

Invisible War is the sequel, yes. So... the Number Two! The.. follow up. The.. ugly, fat, misbehaving stepchild, actually.
Oh pish posh (goddamn I love that saying) Invisible War is a great game. It only looks bad next to Deux Ex, but really, what doesn't?
I dunno... I just couldn't get over the fact that I couldn't ghost around and one-shot head-shot dudes with my silenced pistol as if I'd never been there...

It had lots of problems, like the traipsing back and forth though levels and the uber abilities that unbalanced the game play, and the plot which was to twisty and turny for its own good... but for all that its a sequel to one of the greatest games of all time and its worth playing even if only for nostalgia and to partially satisfy the appitite for more.

That, dear Sir, is the whole point.

I regret to inform you that I must choose to ignore your perfectly valid point. You see, if I accepted that, then gaming as a whole would just bring me sadness, because nothing can ever compare.

But that's a fine hat.

Why, thank you. And I understand. It's as though I was to compare every game ever made to Thief or Thief 2. Life as a gamer would become unbearably hard.
