Any LucasArts game before something like 92 or 94, and after that all DoubleFine stuff. Atlus may have run the Phoenix Wright property into the ground but I still like them a lot. I would also put Nippon Ichi Software on there but I so rarely play RPGs anymore.
Then the apparently popular trio of Valve/Bioware/Blizzard because they all have pretty high standards and I've yet to be disappointed.
If you want to count online casual stuff, look up Tonypa (here [http://www.tonypa.pri.ee/]), he is basically the master of what casual games should be. Short, unique, simple, and easy to understand. He is probably the only guy to make really good and different match-3 type games. And Nitrome (www.nitrome.com [http://www.nitrome.com]) as well, stylish simple games where almost every single one is a pleasure.
