So where do they go from here for MW4? Terrorists nuking a summer camp for mentally handicapped, ethnic minorities with cancer on the day they brought their cute puppies along? Terrorists break in to a German art gallery and mop up all of the contemporary paint stains? Terrorists go on a strike over their pensions and get screwed over by Government cuts? Terrorists drive through the desert from Tucson to Las Vegas, needing to steer left every so often due to a mechanical fault with their bus? The fiends!
Nah, too mild.

MW4 will feature Marines being bum-raped by the Russians, and the final mission of vengeance will feature you bum-raping them back through a QTE sequence.

Press X to bum-fuck!

So why are films allowed to depict this, but games aren't? I've seen shit 10x worse than this in films, and even in cartoons...

Even if they use the argument 'Well, it's your actions as its a game' It's a CUTSCENE of the game. You can't do anything, it's just a slightly low quality CG film equivalent.
Because the rest of the game is interactive I guess, and the powers that be tend to consider things on the whole. Like how Mass Effect is a filthy sex simulator, despite the actual rumpy pumpy taking up a fraction of the entire content. And GTA is a murder simulator when you can spend half of your time just stealing cars, hiring prostitutes, going bowling with your cousin, having joy rides in military hardware and swimming.

Plus films are already allowed to call themselves art whereas games have to fight for that right.

And yet nobody makes a peep when this sort of thing happens in movies. Fun times.

So if I understand this correctly a child gets killed, not by the player, in a cutscene? Then what the hell is the fuss about? That shit happens all the time in movies.

I'm amazed and appalled they are some how selling the sane game for money for the fourth time.

Infinity Ward, you smart bastards. Why pay for advertising when media outlets and even us internet users can advertise your game for you? Brilliant.

I watched that scene on Youtube and now I wish I hadn't, it was just horrible...

I can't believe how clichéd it was and how much English iconography they managed to cram into that one small scene.

I one frame I counted Big Ben, a Union Flag, a pub with a Admiral Nelson sign, a football (soccer ball), 2 Hackney carriages (black cabs), 2 red Double-decker buses, a red postbox and red phonebox... the only thing missing was a Pearly King and a Barrow Boy patronising a Jellied Eel stall... and possibly The Blitz.

Yep, there was no doubt the cookie-cutter American family were on holiday in London and quite frankly, the way the unbearably "cute" little girl was carrying on, that bomb van couldn't have come soon enough.

So let's see:

Modern Warfare: Dude being fried by a nuke
Modern Warfare 2: Innocent citizens killed
Modern Warfare 3: Innocent child killed

Stop trying to one up yourself for controversy-based attention. If people want to buy you, they will. No amount of murdered virtual children is going to make anyone who doesn't like you change their mind.

Huh.

In Fallout 3 you can nuke an entire city for the giggles realy. With fuck knows how many people and children inside. But meh, this is srs bsns becouse its a cod game.

Oh, and in Fallout 2 you could actualy KILL children (You even got a perk for doing so... a bad one, but still). Same for Deus Ex. But then again, those games had something more then controversy and hype behind them, huh?

Who gives a crap? First it's a virtual model and some shoddy VO's, nothing more, nothing less. Second, I never subscribed to the belief that a kid's life is "worth more" than an adult's. Third, it's just IW trying to stir up more controversy to squeeze in more sales and free publicity.

I don't mind the content itself. What I hate is the fact that it will likely be an in-your-face "we're trying to shock you" kind of thing. That pisses me off to no end because then it's just killing for the sake of killing and it takes no effort at all. Like the torture scene in Black Ops. It's like CoD is a little kid smashing things just to get some attention.

Most likely Infinity Ward was the ones that "leaked" the video, in order to generate some "buzz" on the game.

Hold the presses. I just thought of a super controversial marketing campaign for their game in December. A live webcast of Bobby Kotick firing live piglets at Jews in Jerusalem, using a penis-shaped cannon mounted on the face of a giant robot Mohammed, all the while blasting Justin Bieber noise and criticising your favourite game.

Everyone will buy Modern Warfare then!

Indeed. Come on people, think of the children!
