After 10 long ass fucking years, DMC5 comes out in less than 3 months. I already paid off the pre-order for the Deluxe Edition. So, who else is getting this and who are you looking forward to play as the most? Dante? Nero? V? Me personally, Dante is going to be my main choice if given the option. With that said, I sm interested in V, as his gameplay reminds me of Chaos Legion.

After the disaster that was the reboot (I enjoyed the Definitive Edition gameplay wise), it nice to see Capcom trying to fix their foolhardy mistakes. So far this game may surpass DMC3 in terms of character variety, level design, and atmosphere.

Yet in terms of writing, it seems to be horrendous.

I love DMC, and I was hyped when they announced it, but I won't be getting it on launch. I simply don't trust Capcom that much.

Writing wise, it looks fine. DmC and DMC2 are the only ones with horrendous writing. The former is so pretentious and up its own ass that it's beyond ridiculous. 5's writing seems be on par with 3, and 3 had the best story and characters. 4's writing was rushed and 1 was par for the course for most early PS2 games.

I understand your distrust for Capcom. I don't blame you; especially with another fiasco about SFV. The whole advertisements between matches or on loading screens. If you turn them off, you won't get as much fight money. Because of this, I've decided not to get SFV indefinitely, unless someone is going to give me a copy for free.

It's one of my most looked forward to games of the coming year for sure. Though I've been in the dark about its content so as to not spoiler anything so I don't know about who I'd like to use. If it's anything like the others it's probably Dante though. Love his character and also dearly missed him all those long years.

I wasn't initially, since DMC and Platinum-esque games have never endeared me with their weightless, plastic action figure combat, but from what I've heard DMC5 seems to actually put some beef in the action. I still can't say I enjoy the universe that much, nor the empty parking lot levels. I'm somewhat peeking in its direction for now.

Though I would almost buy it just for Nico alone, who has the most sexy shit-eating grin I've ever seen.

Wasn't this leaked? I thought it came out already.
The only thing I heard leaking was kh3 where someone stole a few dozen copies and was selling them for like 100 bucks on amazon.

DMC1 - Stop Mundus from taking over the human world.

DMC2 - Stop Arius from summoning Argosax. This Lucia's story, not Dante's, but he gets most of the heavyh lifting done.

DMC3 - Stop Vergil from opening the Hell Gate. Also, it's a coming of age story for Dante and Lady to a lesser extent.

DMC4 - Stop Santcus from bringing demons in to the human world.

DMC5 - Demons are fighting for position of demon king, and humans are caught in the middle of it.

Simply put it's about a leader of demons revolting against the demonic order and then having kids with a human and then foisting his conflict onto them and how they deal with it. It's a very open "all hell breaks loose" type story than a very tightly-knit narrative.

To be fair, Santcus wanted to bring the Demons so pretend with his demonic power he is their savior by killing those Demons.

He was still planning on conquering the world either way.

Don't you play mostly shooters anyway?

Not me, I have not truly had fun with any games in the series besides the first one.
Sorry about that fella. I understand not playing 2 or even 4, because of the lazy backtracking. The less said about the reboot, unless it's the DE, the better. The crazy thing is, 5 has a lot of callbacks to 1. They even brought back the Sin Scissors and Nobodies.

I wouldn't call the combat weightless unless you're referring to DMC2, DmC (which makes sense when using the Angel Stance), or Bayonetta (which kinda makes sense). The level design wasn't a problem in most of the game barring DMC2 or DMC4. 3 had some problems in mission 15, but was fine for the most part. DmC's was creative, but it would lock off sections and you couldn't backtrack for hidden items or collectibles. Plus, it was a low-grade copy of Bayonetta's level design and theme of shifting realms. 5 does not start out in empty streets, but you gradually go to the demon realm or places where demons have taken over.

Never played a DMC game, it looks like alot of button-mashing which I'm not a big fan of. Looks pretty great graphically tho.

Other than DMC2, the series as a whole is not a button masher. The games do punish you for button mashing on the default difficulty. You can button mash on Easy mode, but you won't get much style points for it. So even on a easier setting, button mashing is discouraged
