Within the past year, there has been a lot of negative feedback regarding Dante's new look, who the chosen developer was, as well as the whole atmosphere of the game. So, my fellow Escapist, I bring you here mainly to look for opinions regarding the current development of the soon to be newest addition to the Devil May Cry series.

With little to no footage regarding gameplay and design, we've thus discerned that Dante has a black short hairdo with tattered and ragged clothing, most likely considering is frail and weak appearance from being held captive, as shown by the original trailer. Recently from the E3 2011 trailer, we've also learned that Dante's hairdo will turn white whenever an ability, similar to Devil Trigger, is activated. Other noticeable things from the most recently trailer include a similar gamestyle from the previous games and the possible addition of some items which include his original sword, a larger two-handed axe, Cerberus(Icy nunchucks), a jagged shield of some-sort, and his two trademark firearms, Ebony and Ivory.

Although that this game may be a redesign, the recent footage shows many similarities to the original series, so it's quite possible that this game will be a mere mimic of Devil May Cry 3.

But, is this a bad thing necessarily?: I really do not think so in my defense. We've seen so little regarding the game's structure, story, character design, and plot. So how could we be so critical when we know so little about the development of this controversial title.

All biased opinions aside, I believe that most folks should at least look past the different character design, atmosphere, and qualities to give this game a fair chance. After all, this is a redesign, not the original, so there isn't much ground for comparison. So please, leave your thoughts, opinions, or suggestions regarding everything besides Dante's appearance since we already know where that will lead. I'm curious to see so.

Like I said when the Dante's new character sheet and the trailer came out.

I'll play it! But I won't like it! (Actually I might...)

Well the only thing that is different are the weapons (besides the only weapons he always has are Ebony Ivory and Rebellion) and his looks. So I don't think there is much too say about this.

You know unless they change the gameplay this will just be another DMC, except Dante looks...different

Gameplay looks to be the same, so it'll be fun nonetheless, but I actually really like the redesigned Dante. Of course, there will inevitably be a movie adaptation, and I'm a skinny guy with short brown hair starting in the acting business, so the latter is quite likely for purely selfish reasons...

Never been a fan of Devil May Cry, but the new cel-shaded design in DmC looks like it'll be fun.

I can see why fans may hate it though. It's a big design change from Devil May Cry 4.

I said it in the last DmC topic and I'll say it here: one of my favorite aspects about the Devil May Cry series is the over-the-top atmosphere. Even if the gameplay in this is akin to that of the previous entries, I just don't think I'm going to enjoy it as much as the previous games. There are enough action games where I can play as a broody ass-kicking dude. The charm of this series to me is the goofiness of it all. I have yet to see that charm from this game.

Who knows? We haven't seen a whole lot of Dante's personality from the trailers, so maybe I'll be wrong and he'll be his usual cocky self. I really, really hope that ends up being the case. But I don't have a lot of faith in that happening right now.

I'm not going to write off the game until I've seen more than two trailers. But I don't want to play a serious-tone Devil May Cry, and that's what the game looks like thus far.

Hmm dunno about it really. I'm a massive Devil May Cry fan and the new look probably wouldn't bother me too much. The problem is it needs to try and match up to Bayonetta now and that's a tall order.

I like the new art style over all but the character design of Dante is to emo looking, I'll be okay with it though as long as the storyline and cut scenes don't go that way as well. Dante just doesn't work that well when he's serious.

Dante looked badass and had his own established history and personality. Changing it when there are so many questions still...

You're asking fans to treat it as a whole new game, but why not make a new game and leave the fans enjoy something without having to pretend that this game never existed. His history was tragic enough without being captured for experiments or something...so why are they adding to it? Personally, I wanted to see more of Vergil.

I'll probably try it if one of my friend gets it but I'm not that interested in it considering it may ruin my entire view on the games.
