Expecting to be able to log in flawlessly on such a massive release like this, is like expecting you can just walk into the shoe store, at 9:00 in the morning, while they have a 50% off sale.

There is just so many people that can fit through a door, and you expect that the store will break out a wall to accommodate something that will only last for 5 hours.

There are ways to handle the launch of a game and there are ways to absolutely ham fist it. Congrats Blizzard, thankfully it's a giant title and you can recover. In the mean time, I can't help but laugh at how incredibly foolish you look right now.
They already got paid. They look brilliant and are rolling in piles of money.
People expect a flawless start from games these days. Obviously they've made money, I'm saying they've absolutely flubbed their release of Diablo 3, a rather important part of a game's lifespan.

I'm SO pissed that I can't play this with my two brothers who also bought the game. Because the game FORCES you to log onto a server, I can't play. There is NO REASON we couldn't have just had a single player/LAN feature in the game and already been playing. Such a feature would have also meant that a LOT of people wouldn't be logging into the server. Duh.

I seriously just do not get the whole manditory online thing and, more importantly, why the hell everyone just swallows it. I absolutely love Blizzard and their games but this feels like such a step backward to me. I mean, when Diablo 2 came out we were already in act 2 by this time. We couldn't have cared less about what was going on in the internets.

Am I really the only one to bring this up?
Really?
It seems backward to you to change from a single/multi player system, to a fluid system where you can hop into your friends game at will. A system where you don't have a separate character for off-line and on-line. A system that offers a more secure model with less cheats and hacks.

I'm sorry, but always online is the future.
And I for one enjoy it.

Not just the ease it lets me connect and play with my friends, but also how it lets me chat with those that still play WoW or Starcraft 2.

They have every right to expect to play a game they buy on the day of release. and "these days"? Before servers, online drm, and this account BS, people bought a game, installed it, and played it. Rarely were customers ever unable to even start a single player game.

Blizzard, you brought these problems on yourself, by making the game online only.

Damn, I was going to post that gif! =P

But yes, good luck to those trying to get in. Friends spent an hour and a half before getting in over here in Scotland, hopefully it doesn't take you that long.

I don't disagree at all mate. Blizzavision could easily have avoided this situation.

Yes, sometimes new features might bring some unwanted annoyances.
But it's not like you could have seen it coming right?
It's not like thus was ANNOUNCED: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117151-Diablo-III-Launch-May-Get-Messy
It's not like you could have waited a few hours until the rush died down!?

I'm glad I havn't bought the game and thus don't give a flying turd. It's as much of a clusterfuck as I presumed it'd be, and I cannot possibly support Actiblizzard in their choices of DRM and ridiculous auction house. And how dumbed down the game as a whole is.

Diablo 3's potential > Path of Exile, Torchlight 2, Grim Dawn etc. > Diablo 3.

Have you been living under a rock ? People were complaining about that exact thing for a whole year .

OT: Did you guys really not forsee this ? I mean really . Enjoy not playing the game you paid for. I hope this serves as a lesson to you kids , vote with your wallet . And think before you act and you might now get screwed over like this!

Watched others play it on streams, wasn't impressed. Sad times when the clones of diablo look much better than the actual sequel. No doubt it will still get better reviews because of it's name.

By the way, koreans already beat the game in just 2 hours.
J

Wait what are you basing this on? Did they actually beat the game in two hours? I think their servers opened earlier than our , so they could have been playing for longer . Then again koreans...

From the sound of it, it look like it's was good thing that I didn't pay extra for the release date delivery. I should be getting it sometime this week but it would be even more funny if they still don't get it fixed by then.

EDIT- Wow it actually arrive on time. Either way I'm not going to install it right away due to the current sever problem.

They did a blind run on a stream and only took 2 hours to beat the entire first difficulty.

No offense, but the paying public brought this on themselves when they bought the game knowing full well what was going to happen.

Yes, it's a shit situation. But it's a shit situation that anybody with half a brain should of expected.

And a shit situation that will be moot in a day, max.

People here are acting like it will be like this forever.
Once the rush settles non of this will be inconvenient.
Except for those with a shitty connection, but then again, if you have a shitty connection, you probably shouldn't have bought an always on-line game in the first place.

Blizzard would have been wasting their money trying to make an easier launch server login, I think.

It's a popular (well hyped) game that people would be waiting until the tick of midnight to play... what are you going to expect. I have yet to hear of a popular MMO (which Diablo 3 is basically acting like since it is restricted to online only play) that hasn't had these login problems on release.

And Blizzard would be wasting their money because it wouldn't even be an issue after a few hours after launch. It's completely pointless to even bother.

Now if you don't mind me, I will just wait until I feel like playing it before I buy it, and then log on with no problems whatsoever.

I didnt buy D3 for partially this reason, and it just hasnt sold me as appealing compared to the first two.

for all those who thinks its the consumers fault for knowing this would happen F*** you, there is no excuse for this and blizzard knew exactly what they were getting themselves into and should of scrapped the compulsory internet from the start.

Huh, I just logged in fine on the first try, been playing for a bit. Are the server problems fixed, or am I just one of the lucky ones?

Well my fucking (sorry about the language) postal office didn't even bring my copy today.
So my feelings are freaking pissed off right now. I hope you guys enjoy the game (those that have been able to log into the game)

P.S FU postal service, seriously. You have had the game in your office since last thursday...
