I don't get how people get all worked up over this. D1 had different classes then D2. And they will no doubt introduce new (old) classes in expansions.

and like other people said the classes are REALLY similar to D2 classes, just 2 of them got reskinned and renamed.

amazon = demonhunter
witchdoctor = necro

and the druid and the assassin where kind of silly and unbalanced in D2. I know, I tried to keep up with a druid against barbs and it couldn't be done.

In the end what really matters is how they will handle drops. will they make Zod's more rare then a royal flush again. Thats what D2 was all about, downing mephisto and seeing a gold ring dropping. Then, nothing as silly as an iconic moment of silence. No, everyone pounced for that SoJ like your life depended on it.

it was a glorified slot machine and it sucked 3 glorious months out of life

and in other news

I suppose that you could say that the Wizard is nothing more than a renamed sorcerer\sorceress and the Demon Hunter is nothing more than a renamed Rouge\Amazon\Assassin and that the Witch Doctor is just the Necromancer wearing a different skin, but does it really matter?
really, rouge?.... you just got docked some nerd points.

Why should it have brought back and mixed classes. The Sorcerer was great, as well as the Amazon. Barb was a nice tank. They destroyed it! WHY!
For same reason they destroyed the warrior/rogue/sorceror system of the original when they made the sequel. Because unlike some companies, they are not lazy asses and they recognise the need to keep the game fresh.

Eh they lost me at always on internet connection. The Beta is fun I will admit that but being kicked out of a single-player game when the router drops my laptop got a little annoying.

*sigh*

Click here.

And/or here.

I think that about sums it up.

Enjoy Diablo 3 for what it is, or don't. No-one's forcing you to buy it, and Blizzard doesn't owe you an explanation for how they've spent the money and years on their IP. They want you to buy it and like it. Your most effective protest would be with your wallet. Whatever you do, please, don't judge a game just because it's not precisely what you think would be the most awesome thing ever.

PS: I take no responsibility for people getting hooked on tvtropes.org after following any links in this message.

I would have liked to have seen a different heavy melee class - Paladin being my favourite class from D2 - but the barb is a classic, and I'm definitely not sad to have the guy back.

Demon hunter is a silly name for a class because, every character is demon hunting so to speak. It would of been better to name it an inquisitor or a ranger.
Possible, but consider that many people can drive a car but there is still a "driver" profession. It's just a way to distinguish what they do. While evey other class also kills demons, the (I'll use the D2 classes, as I know them more) Necromancer studies death primarily. The sorceress masters the arcane arts. And so on. Most of them wouldn't describe their profession as only "killing demons". Sort of how you can drive to work and drive as your work.

They could of had so much better classes that was my argument such as

* Rogue
* Summoner , instead of witch doctor.
* Alchemist, similar to pippin from diablo 1, with throwing potions ect.
I agree, I would have preferred if they had more classes right now it seems a bit limited. I can only assume more will come with the expansion. And I somehow feel the game will have two expansions this time.

I mean, if the argument is about "pure classes" then you have the Barbarian and the Wizard which are non-hybrids. The Demon hunter is debatable, I guess, but I wouldn't consider her a hybid class either.

Neither is the Monk, really. He's filling the melee DPS role which is essentially considered a "pure" class now.

The only person who does a little bit of everything is the Witch Doctor, who is hilarious and shouldn't be questioned.

I just want the game so i can figure out which class is my favorite again. Diablo 2 it was all about the Necromancer and Barbarian. Maybe I should try something new this time.

Huh, someone is making Diablo 3? I don't get it. Blizzard doesn't exist anymore, how or why would anyone be making another Diablo?
I share you sentiments. Blizzard would never had made a LAN game with always-online requirements.

I wish they'd bring back the bard class. What? You didn't know there was a bard class? Well there was. You thought the barbarians, necromancers, and druids were overpowered? They got nothing on the bard.
