Over the last couple days I've seen an annoying increase in cheaters, the last one i saw was around launch, now i've seen at least 4 in 2 days so this is very much welcomed.

From what I've heard about the PC version, you can literally change your name whenever you want at no charge, making report cheaters useless.
The game is still attached to your EA account is it not?
EA has shown its not above banning you from all there games
It's more to do with the fact that the people who are actually being affected by the cheating don't really have a chance at reporting the players. Because any cheater with an ounce of common sense would just change his name after a game, making it impossible to track him down from the user side of things.

You can go ahead and nerf.the shit out of the USAS12 shotgun while your at it, that shits getting out of hand
But...I use it to troll 64 player metro cq only servers late at night!
OT: Good, I'm getting tired of being killed by a guy from the other side of the map. Who used his mobile radio beacon to kill me. And my entire team. Constantly.

That's not overly true, as you can look at your battle reports which will still link to the players profile.

And i'm waiting for the bans to take away the access from all the other games they own too. It's EA, dick moves are what they do.

So they're going to work on a nearly non-existent problem while dozens of bugs and imbalances left unfixed? I love paying $60 for a permanent beta, don't you?
I agree with you, I can't play Battlefield 3, it's too hard and the matchmaking is totally broken since many high level players just skip the matchmaking and join servers directly, making level 0-10 players fight against teams of prestiged high level players!

If I had known that I wouldn't have bought it.
That's not the point I was making at all. No-one uses match-making, a persons in-game level has nothing to do with their skill level. Normally I'm not one to call people out by saying they only hate the game because they suck at it, but you literally just admitted to that. Comon, you can't expect yourself to be good at a game right from the beginning. You have to learn-OHHHHHHH you're talking about how the unlocks completely unbalance the game, aren't you? Okay, yeah, I agree 100% with that, BUT I don't think it unbalances the game enough to make it unplayable. It's honestly a really fun game, and since you already bought it you should get your money's worth and just get through the first couple of unlocks, even go on empty servers if you have to and capture points in a vehicle to unlock flares, after that it's honestly extremely fun.

I'm not sure how to respond to this, It's great that they are trying to fix a problem only humans could fix but I'm worried about how vague it is (big surprise). Hacking and things like aim bots are obviously cheating. But what about exploiting glitches and bugs? Is boosting cheating? I'd imagine boosting would be especially prominent in Battlefield because from what I've heard some unlocks completely unbalance the game. On top of that is totally legal but broken and cheap things cheating? This could still use some defining. Plus DICE should really concentrate on fixing the glitches and broken unbalanced problems.

As long as the banning doesn't involve locking players out of playing the games in their EA library, I'm fine with it.
It's Origin, it almost certainly does.

Why? It's useless outside of Metro Meatgrinders and that Bazaar place.
Not too sure about that, I went back to bf3 today and got razed by that damn thing, especially with the frag rounds, theres barely a chance.

Just a tone down on damage would be welcome at this juncture.
The frag rounds do less damage than normal buckshot. Anyway, it's a hell of a lot better than the sniper-rifle-shotguns in bad company 2.

They were so much fun to play with.

It's a fun game alright, but it is unbalanced. Lots of people complain about it at EA forums and the Battle logs. Most matches end up totally one sided. If your on a losing team you can just switch to the winning team and thats what a lot of people end up doing. Thats why you end up with the ridiculous instances of prestiged high level players all stacked on one team. I played it for a while but it's not enjoyable for me though i'm glad others enjoyed it because I loved 1942, 2 and BC2. This new one though? Not for me.

I really hope that tthis doesn't trap people who aren't cheating, but are just good at the game, or are wrongly accused of cheating by someone who just wants to be immature.
Agreed. Hopefully they already have an algorithm ready to detect cheaters after the round is long over.

Finding the cheaters isn't really hard. Just have to look at people on the leaderboard (K/D, SPM, "Skill") and basically the first few pages are cheaters. Also, people with too high numbers of headshots.
I'm a bit sceptical because all they have done up to now is to reset the stats of some cheaters.

A few days ago there also was one video recorded by a cheater who went "Dev hunting". He used his cheats to knife-kill DICE people. So that is probably what caused them to realise they need to do something.

Another alarming thing is that cheaters also seem able to spoof and steal GUIDs that are used by Punkbuster and GGC to ban people and this way some people who don't cheat get banned during the last days. Normally those bans happen when the person hasn't even been online for a few hours and they get banned while offline (compare ban time and played matches in battlelog).

As a result of the recent cheating activity, many servers are also starting to block players specific countries (most of all Russia).

I really hope they go through with their anti cheat policy but they really need to crank up their security policy. They need to patch much more often so cheaters aren't save for even just a few days, let alone those 1-2 months between patches. Fixing PB would also help...
still very sceptical though.
