I haven't actually played it for ages, but I remember playing it a whole damn lot at the time, far as I'm aware it never really took off in a big way, but I remember enjoying it a whole lot, mostly for the movie-making bits, but the management game was interesting, if not particularly deep.

Did anyone else here play it? I'd like to hear thoughts.

I played it! I love those type of games, like Space Colony, SimPark and Hospital Tycoon. Hearing about it makes me want to play it now. So angry my old sim games doesn't work on Windows 7 (I'm sure I could download something to make it work, but I haven't looked too much into it).

If I remember correctly, I never got that far in The Movies. I wonder why, because I thought it was a lot of fun. They should make a remake of it with better graphics, and perhaps more in-depth gameplay. Would be awesome.

I played it. It was alright, but it got pretty damn repetitive after a while, which is a chore when the game is mostly micro-management. In fact, I don't think I ever finished it.

I've had quite some fun experiencing and goofing around with the movie maker of the game.

It's a shame the official movie sharing website went down before I could make any submissions though...

The movie-making tool was pretty fun, as I recall, but the actual management of the studio was very dull unfortunately, which is probably the reason I never got that far.

I love The Movies - it has some great ideas and is fun to mess about in, though I've never been very good at the game itself. I always run out of money and find myself cranking out low budget sci-fi movies in a desperate attempt to bring in just enough money to keep the studio open, but even that has its own particular charm - especially with the Buster Crabbe era Flash Gordon style sets and costumes.
