in the Game guide manual for LOZ: Ocarina of Time, Shiek is always referred to as "that mysterious boy", so I think he is a guy despite being Zelda in disguise, but all of my friends think that that would be impossible (even by magical means) so it is really just Link not knowing who Shiek is, and that Shiek is in fact a girl. does anybody on here agree with me? or am I really just completely wrong?

Yeah, thats a huge amount considering they've been full of crap.
I've made about 4 threads in total, and i have over 600 posts. I think about mine aswell.

I always thought Zelda was the realm where the game was set, not a person.
But I only played a Zelda game where Zelda doesn't appear at all; the one with the Wind Fish.
I did get that Link was... well, Link, however.

How dumb do companies think we are? Or how dumb are the companies? I mean, how longs are they going to make us buy this game after game 'oh btw princess captured again now go get her again' sequence? It get sooooo old. Granted Mario has come up with some other scenarios, but come on!!

definetly. my first Zelda game was Links' Awakening on the old Brick GameBoy (those where happier days!), so of course there was no Princess Zelda in it. i didn't realise until a mate's brother (who was a good 3 years older than i was) told me what was going on
