Bayo 2 doesn't need a shitty award to let us know it's an amazing game.

Its amazing how many needless controversys would never exist if more organizations gave those little appropriate social media conduct courses that are all the rage these days. Its not corruption and its impossible to so remove yourself from bias to stop yourself from plain disliking a game, but the guy needlessly smeared the award with his badly thought out comment.

Well, I'm glad to see nerds' tendency to overreact hasn't gone anywhere. I'm guilty of it myself and it never ceases to be entertaining! XD

Who cares? I didn't realise anyone cared about these dumb awards anyway. It seems every game, movie, book, song, and any other media can boast at least 10 meaningless awards these days.
Will it make a difference from the business side? If so, i guess an argument could be made for their relevance.

Yes. It shouldn't have even been in the running, ergo any decision on it is unfair.

See how annoying it is when people decide that their opinion of a game trumps yours? Now imagine being a reviewer, or a judge on the game awards, and the reaction, the scrutinising (That Twitter post is what's known as a joke. It's non-literal hyperbole. It's a common part of English verbiage, and has analogues in most languages), and the complaining that they're mistaken, because you think differently. God forbid you ever like something which is truly outside the mainstream, otherwise you'll have to deal with it all the damn time (Playing videogames doesn't count, especially when you wrap yourself in the safety blanket of nerd culture).

What we have here is called "Anomaly Hunting" and it's conspiracy theory thinking used to justify presupposed conclusions. What this really says is that he knows about Bayonetta 2, and he has an opinion of it, and that opinion is that it is probably not deserving of the winning title. WHICH IS EXACTLY HIS JOB AS A JUDGE. TO KNOW ABOUT THE GAMES AND HAVE OPINIONS ON THEM. Really, the only improper behaviour here, is that he kind of spoiled the show.

That's not corruption, that's just good old-fashioned stupidity. Mostly the kind of stupidity coming from joyless twats who don't like it when a game know that it's a GAME

...Oooookay.

Evidently, I shouldn't make posts late at night.

Didn't think this would get so many replies, in all honesty *cough cough.*

I'll be the first to admit, I probably over-reacted. Okay, I definitely over-reacted. I was just REALLY worried that a game that's already getting far too much negativity surrounding it was going to get a little more. That said, I suppose it didn't justify this thread.

Thank you, everyone who posted, for your time and consideration. I think I would have preferred it was delivered in a much less condescending tone from some of the regular posters, but...well, the Escapist does have something of reputation, so I'm not sure what else I was expecting. In any case, thanks for everyone who delivered criticism with some restraint, and I ask that you forgive this fool of poster.
