For a while, it sucked out all the joy I had of series, to the point where I didn't even want to touch the other games again. Seeing how all the build up in the first two games, and most of the third, leads to nothing just made me go, "It's not worth it."

I've gotten over that and started playing ME3 again to get the last few achievements. I'm enjoying the game, but as I near the ending, I find it gets hard and hard to finish. The sense of disappointment is still there.

As for another game, I'll look into and probably buy it, but I'll wait and see first. I won't run out and get it on release day like I did with 2 and 3.

it depends on whether the game is good or not.

several games I liked had bad endings, and quite frankly, I have a high tolerance for bad things.

Making it Origin exclusive killed it already. The shit ending was just another symptom that I managed to avoid by refusing the cause.

ME1 is still decent and ME2 is still freaking great but...I just don't want to play them right now, the whole point of the game is supposed to be fighting against all odds agains the Reapers, and that turns out to accomplish nothing in the end. It raises the question when you're supposed to go on a suicide mission "it isn't going to change a damn thing, why the fuck should I bother?" It just totally killed the immersion for me.

My sentiments exactly.

Sadly, my interest in Mass Effect is pretty much dead after ME3. Unfortunate, but I can't really control these things. I tried playing through the first two games again, but after a while I realized that I wasn't having fun. The magic was gone, and I was just going through the motions in hope that if I faked it, the sense I of wonder I used to have when playing them would come back. It didn't, and I was just wasting time and building up stress.

Maybe years from now I will have enough distance between me and ME 3 to be able to enjoy the first two again, but it will be a while. A similar thing happened to me with the Lord of the Rings movies. The books were pretty much my favorite things in the world growing up, and the movies pissed all over everything I loved about them. Only in the last year or so have I found that I can enjoy the books again without them constantly reminding me of the movies and filling me with ire. Hopefully it won't take ten years for me to enjoy Mass Effect again.

On the plus side, I am glad to hear that the series is still fun for so many of you (although I am somewhat jealous).

WHY DID YOU START THIS AGAIN?!

*Ahem*

Some people thought it was bad and others didn't.

I don't care, all in all. I'll just wait for reviews like always.

A new ROUND STARTS again...

Oh yeah, the thread. Well, I will just plain put this here. Um. Hey guys and girls. As you may or may not know already, I didnt enjoined Dragon Age: Origions or however it is spelled. Taking this into account, Its possible that I enjoy the Mass Effect series at all? I am willing to give BIOWAR another try, partially because I am bored as f*** and I simply dont have other game to play right now, so I might be getting it. I am already freaking bored, So even if it bored to the point where I nearly wanted to kill myself levels like DA:O did, It will still be fun for the first 5 mins or so.

For what I heard, Chance are I will not enjoy it, BUT I heard its more of an action RPG bording in TPS by the 3rd part, so yeah.

Just to try to contribute to the thread itself... Well Idk about the ending itself since I obviously dont know WTF is even going on, but people raged. Hardcore. And thats always hilarious for a laugh or two. Score 1 for MAss EffECT.

As a final note... Stop with the EA hating already. Its getting old, and annoying, almost as bad as COD hating. I dont think either EA or COD deserve all the crap people say to them, as well.

You mean did the ME3 ending kill mass effect for me? No, I didn't even mind it too much to be honest.

Well...I liked the ending, so nothing was ruined for me. But I think that anyone who thinks the last thirty minutes ruined about ninety hours of fun is an idiot.

No, I'd still buy another ME game after this. The ending didnt even ruin ME3 for me. Quite frankly, people blow the ending way out of porportion. It wasnt that bad.
Yep, pretty much this.

While the ending wasn't the on the level of epicness that I wanted, it did enough for me in terms of wrapping up the series. Wouldn't stop me from playin the series again, or very seriously considering a new ME game.

In an instant.

I absolutely loved the entire series, quite possibly my favourite game series of all time and definitely one of the most immersive and in-depth I've ever played.

I actually liked the ending especially once they brought in the Extended Cut, it closed the storyline off, I felt that pretty much all the choices except synthesis were reasonable (that being said, I still don't like the control ending for a Paragon Shep, Renegade, yes.)

So no, ME3 did not ruin Mass Effect for me.

No it didn't ruin Mass Effect to me. Don't get me wrong, the ending ? even the extended ending ? was horrible, but 30 minutes of an otherwise spectacular story being awful is still pretty spectacular.

It killed my desire to play through the series again yes. All those decisions rendered into 3 different coloured lightshows and a Starchild ex machina.

My desire to continue in the universe however was killed by Origin and EA's stupidity in general.

Oh boy. Here we go again *props up a chair*. I'm going to go and make popcorn anyone want some?

In all seriousness though, I have not played the games in their entirety, yet, but I've had some discussions about MS3 with my chums. Not that I had any choice in the matter since avoiding spoilers about the MS3 ending back then was god-damned impossible. Anyway, we came to the following consensus (Ooh, look at me using one big word.)

Is MS3 perfect? No.

Is it good? Yes.

Despite a rather atrocious ending is it still worth playing? Yes.

Did we get everything that was promised? No.

And do you know what? That's okay. MS3 isn't the first great game to get dicked over by a crappy ending and the way I see it, it certainly won't be the last. I'm looking at you RAGE/Killzone 2 & 3/Resistance 3/Kane & Lynch 2 etc, etc. Besides from what has already been spoiled for me, thanks guys, it seems to me that the journey is wicked even if the destination isn't. So no the ending hasn't stopped me from wanting to play the games. My lack of free time and crippling debts have...

Kidding, or maybe not.

Oh, and before anyone else points this out, yes I realize that this site despises Kane and Lynch 2 with a passion. I thought it was fun so bite me. Please disregard if you don't hate Kane and Lynch 2 or more likely don't give a shit.

In no way did the third game ruin it for me. I don't understand why so many people claim that they outright hate the game based on the last 1% of it. Especially when you consider that the other 99% of the game was downright amazing. I'll buy another Mass Effect game in a heartbeat, and I'll probably even put in the money for a Collectors Edition version. Frankly, I thought the original ending was well put together and I did see the artistic integrity in it.

No. I actually liked the game. Was a little soured by the Pre-EC ending, but the EC DLC fixed that. I enjoy the Multi-player immensely, and I'm looking forward for what the Omega DLC is going to be like.
