I'm an agnostic, but I was raised catholic until my parents gave me the choice to stop going to church. I got very frustrated with organized religion very early on because I would get chided for asking basic questions about the metaphysics of christian beliefs. telling a kid that he's stupid and blasphemous for his curiosity is not a great way to ingratiate a neophyte into a faith.

Quite to the contrary, I have read it several times, I was at one point a devout Christian.

EDIT: So do you just ignore the old testament?
Negative, I am no longer christian. I have decided my own beliefs. I was pointing out that you should not openly insult the releigion. You have been here long enough to know that gets people angry. Like I said, no one can interpret the original languages, so we have no idea how close we are to true christianity. And considering how many times the church was corrupted... Plus, people assume that God means good. There is a great chance he is a kid with a magnifying glass. So therefore, You are forced to like him to earn a place in heaven. Assuming it is a real faith, You are kind of forced to give in.

But I don't believe God is like that.
I don't want to start an open flame war here, so when you respond, let's keep it civil. I've had to much religious drama on this site.

I'm not part of a religon but im not an atheist, I beleive there is something out there bigger than myself but i really don't beleive any religon is right or wrong.
I think that's being agnostic.
Not quite.

It makes you an agnostic theist.

Anyway, I'm a atheist now. I didn't used to be when I was a child. I couldn't think for myself, so when my parents told me about god it was like believing in Santa Clause.

Yes, several times. I'm a Realist now, and I'm staying that way until the second coming of Christ, therefore FOREVER.

Why would you get kicked out of a church for that?

I live in a Greek Orthodox family, I'm kinda 50/50 with it and my Dad has even said that he wants to raise us to be religious but let us choose when we get older.

It would of been quite hilarious to see that.

Oh yes, I went to Catholic school as a kid and went to church every Friday in the morning. Life and learning made me realize I no longer believed in the Catholic faith. Now I'm kind of a Buddhist, a very fatalistic one at that.

Nope. I've been an atheist as far back as I can remember. Neither of my parents are religious, so I never got any religious beliefs pressed on me by them. Oh, my primary school tried, with their mandatory assemblies with hymns and prayers. But they failed.

Nice use of irony there.

Never have been religous, never will be.
