It being a bad game is a subjective opinion. I've still found it to hold up even to this day. Sonic Adventure 1 on the other hand...Worgen said:

It's pretty objectively a bad game. The camera is crap, the controls just kinda work, the characters move too fast to be easily controllable (this is fine in speed stages but a pain in stages that aren't made for speed), the story is bad, and audio is shit. It's a bad game, but it all combines to make a game that is so bad its good. It's playable enough to play and enjoy.Specter Von Baren said:

He says the story is bad because it's a story about anthropomorphic animals trying to stop a guy named Eggman from blowing up the world instead of being I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, because you can't possibly just have a fun story that's more to give you an excuse for gameplay. And he says the audio is shit even though it has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard from a video-game.
Does it have issues? Yes. The Knuckles and Rouge levels can be annoying in cases (Especially on harder difficulties), some mechanics aren't as polished as they should be, leading to some wonky situations like the gravity cylinders in later stages, and Omochao can also be annoying like a certain owl from Ocarina of Time. Just because something isn't perfect doesn't mean it's bad.
