I have a problem with the three because I can't take them seriously. They just come off as mildly humorous and all three of their stories basically have no ending, not that their stories were interesting to begin with. The best characters in the game for me were the Black characters, all of whom have this generic hood life character to them (except for Franklin who's just boring). Also, whoever came up with the FIB characters needs to be slapped, both gameplay and story wise they just serve to annoy me. Hey! Want to go on an exciting heist mission? Well fuck you, go do one of our boring missions and you can't continue without doing them.

I'm a bit annoyed that you aren't playing as older versions of CJ, Tommy Verceti and...guy from GTA3. It's easy to just assume that you are and they're using aliases (except Trevor...nobody asked his name back in Liberty City after all).

That's all I can say though since I still have yet to play the game.

The GTA3 guy is named Claude (we learn this in the San Andreas scene where he cameos). It is possible that he is supposed to be the same character as Claude Speed, the protagonist of GTA2, but this is not confirmed.

The GTA3-verse and GTAIV/V-verse are connected by stories and some recurring characters, but officially there is no connection between GTA/GTA2 and the later games other than some reused names.
