They missed the point of the book, as every movie does.

*Spoilers*

In the book Tyler screws up the plot to blow up all the buildings because he isn't careful enough when he's building the bombs. There are a lot of other tiny moments like that in the book, but the basic problem I had was that the film just sorta glorified Tyler and the book made it explicit how much sustaining the delusion didn't work in the long term.

I never read the book, but it's a good stand alone film anyway so it doesn't really matter whether it followed it faithfully.

My main reasoning for loving this movie?

I'll give you a hint.

He would do anything for love, but he won't do that.

Edward Norton is pretty awesome too.

MEATLOAF ***** TITTIES!!!

(ahem)
I thought Fight Club was a well made film, but also felt it missed the point of the book. Like V for Vendetta, I read the book SECOND, so it didn't make that much of a difference to me

I enjoyed the movie muchly, haven't read the book.

However I think the film can stand on its own feet. V for Vendetta, I read the graphic comic second, and I prefer the comic. However I still enjoy the film (apart from the crappy ending with everyone being alive... what the feck? -_-; )

Everyone? I see to remember a lot of people dying... (including Stephen Fry!)

At the end when they take their masks off, Fry et al are there. I think its meant as a visual metaphor rather than them actually being alive though.

Why am I the first to say this but: What is the first rule of fight club?

Anyway pretty good film, didn't know there was a book or else I might have read it already. I shall get onto that and V for Vendetta even though I haven't seen the film.

Great movie, love the sense of anarchy and rebellion, brilliant opener for Norton...

However like all great works, it became extremely popular.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought it had a very good story, the cienematography was great, and the acting was superb! It's definitely worth seeing/buying!

Never read the book, and this is one of the few book-to-movies I don't plan on reading ever.

The movie was good for much the same reasons as the old muscle car ads. In an environment where we all have to be politically correct and caring and all that other crap we get fight club calling us pussies and suggesting we grow the hell up and be men. The rest of the movie was great as well, but it's always the "be a man" thing that comes to mind when I think about fight club.

Incidentally, in terms of replayability - until very recently I watched Fight Club at least once a month.

I've never read the book, so I say that Fight Club was a pretty damn good film in its exploration of modern masculinity, and it as pretty well edited too.

Its a very interesting psychological exploration, without forcefully advocating the viewpoints presented, so it doesn't sound preachy. Pay attention to your friends the first time they watch it; see who's observant and who isn't by who guesses the main plot twist :p
