I thought the movie was eminently quotable and I'm willing to bet I'd have liked it a lot more if I hadn't sobered up and quit drugs long before it came out. But it's an infantile, nihilistic, bloody mishmash of a movie that is pants-on-head retarded in its presentation and crosses the line between "leaving it to the viewer" and just making the viewer use the damn Internet [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GuideDangIt] to figure out what was going through Palahniuk's overrated creative mind.

I've seen the film once and I've no desire to see it again.

Failing to understand what's going on says more about you than the film.

Banging on at people for 'not getting it' says a lot about people, too.
I can totally understand why it might be hated. But, contradicting myself abit, it is one of those films that works on a fair few levels. Even if you don't like one aspect of it, it's worth watching again to get a different perspective.

They missed the point of the book, as every movie does.
I haven't read the book because I didn't know the film was baced on one. but I totaly know what you mean. I make sure I read the books before I see the films.

I enjoyed the movie muchly, haven't read the book.

However I think the film can stand on its own feet. V for Vendetta, I read the graphic comic second, and I prefer the comic. However I still enjoy the film (apart from the crappy ending with everyone being alive... what the feck? -_-; )
Everyone? I see to remember a lot of people dying... (including Stephen Fry!)
Goin bit off topic, but if you watch the end with all the people taking the masks off, look whos there! (Including Stephen Fry and the lil kid with glasses)

It was alright. The twist was visible from space from near the beginning though...

I know, I noticed the twist coming early on, but for some reason my friends didn't. Maybe I'm just more discerning than they are.
The twist was transparent when Jack meets Tyler on the plane.

its probably one of my favorite moves, i own it and have watched it countless times.. but a strange thing almost every one i know likes it except for my dad. my dads 69 so hes pretty old , he understands the concept he just does not like the movie, maybe its because of the generation gap or something i don't know.

I only just found out that Fight Club was based on a book. That might explain why it is so amazing. Script writers can't write a decent script unloess they steal it from a book. All the same, one of my all time favourite films.

You should include the poll option, "Book beats the living hell out of the movie." The movie's ending kinda sucked compared to the real ending.

Fight Club was a brilliant film for one interested in psychology and politics. Especially a leftist such as myself. It's one of only two roles I actually like Brad Pitt in. The other's Snatch.
What about Twelve Monkeys?

I grew up to that movie and even as a youngster I loved it and understood it. ^^
Fightclub was superb before it became the go-to book for annoying self-important teenagers. Palahniuk has turned out to be a bit of a one trick pony as well. His other books rarely stray from the Fight Club formula, which is a shame.
When did I become "self-important"??? I am confused. >.>
Sorry that wasn't aimed at you. I was going to respond to your hilarious "and understood it" (as if it's a particularly complex novel) but decided against it.

I suggest everybody read William Wilson by Edgar Allan Poe.
Like I did two days before I saw this movie.
Did they just copy an almost 150yr old story?
Yes they did...
Still liked it though.

And afterward I found out there was another book in between the two.

How about Meet Joe Black?

Meh, about the film being faithful to the book the author actually said that he preferred the film and that it was better. :p

I really liked it, but i never saw it in one full sitting, so I might be piecing it together in my mind to make it good. There are obvious was that the whole idea of it could go to the pooper, but I might be fabricating it in my mind.

I liked my mental version
