I thought it was alright, but it was nothing compared to the actual graphic novel. That's the thing with movies that don't follow closely enough to the source material.

Yes, yes, the movie came out last year, but Watchmen was recently on CineMax and it re-sparked my interest in the film adaptation. I didn't see the movie when it came out, but it was on so I thought, what the hell. I watched it through, and then, watched it again when it came on. And then again OnDemand. I couldn't get enough of how well it was adapted. It seemed to me as if the graphic novel simply jumped out of the pages and landed into the screen. I loved it. And while, yes, there were some parts that I didn't like, such as the over-the-top and unnecessary sex scene between Dan and Laurie, I have to say it's one of the best films I've watched.

Which is why I was rather disappointed that it didn't receive high reviews. Sure, some critics gave it outstanding ratings, but the average lies around just that; average.

So, the question is, what did you think of the movie?

I have to point out, I also liked 300 and Dawn of the Dead. Perhaps I just love Zack Snyder?
Visually it was adapted very well, I didn't feel it encompassed the feel of the novel so well though. My main issue was with how vulnerable and fragile the characters felt in the Novel, everyone had their issues and could drop dead at any moment (bar perhaps Mr. Manhatten). The movie however made them feel damn near invincible. The fight scenes I recall were good, but shouldn't have gone down so smoothly and the sound track felt ridiculously out of place at some points.

I think the Watchmen film was great. I think the Director's Cut was fantastic. Hollis Mason's last scene was incredible; I would consider it to be one of the most well done scenes in cinema. I will always stand by the opinion that Zack Snyder did a fantastic job with Watchmen. Very true to the source material, and the ending in the film was much better than said source material, in my opinion.
