did you tried Tetris 99 on the switch ?

So last direct nintendo released Tetris 99, immediately renamed Tetris Battle Royal by the internet.

So obviously, did you tried it ? did you liked it ? how good are you at it ?


Personally, i really like tetris games in general. this one is well done. the game is fluid, the music is good, and it really give you a sense of urgency when you cross 50 and 10 players remaining, as well as a good auditive clue that you crossed 50 and 10 player remaining if you didnt check. I start to develop a few strategies, like switching from near ko to attackers when i am targeted by too many players at the same time

Beside i like what this game represent. for months now people have been ranting on and on about the poor value of nintendo online service. Tetris 99 is a step in the good direction. the pass give us multiplayer capability on games, free nes games, and free exclusive games. that's perfect. it's fun for now, and more modes will be added later. give us one or two games like that each year and it will be a good addon to the online service.

and i'm pretty good at it. i end up in the top 50 almost all the time, i've done top 10 a few times, my best record is 6th

I will probably try it, though. It's just that most of what time I have for gaming goes to MP with friends.

Yup. I managed to get into the top 10 on my first try, though all attempts to replicate this result have been unsuccessful so far. Still fun and the music kicks ass.

I'm still baffled that this is free. And I mean 100%, no microtransaction free. I guess it's there to make Switch Online more appealing, which is certainly a step in the right direction.

Yeah, it's incredibly frustrating and random and I can't stop playing it. I think I lasted to about #12 once.

It's battle Tetris with anxiety.

It's pretty great, but I can't play more that a couple games at a time

It's great, I love it, I win occasionally. The chance of getting randomly dogpiled can hurt, but it's a bit more forgiving a system than other multiplayer tetris variants, so it balances out pretty well.
