It's not the best anime ever, but it's the best anime any kid could ever watch :D
Agreed, the other theme song to that show didn't quite cut it :/

Yeah, that one blows.

...

Hmm, getting a massive sense of deja vu. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.373125-Poll-Best-English-Anime-Opening?page=1]
Rock The Dragon is objectively the best opening for anything ever. This is indisputable.
Yeah, maybe so, but This is da best ^.^ Most people would argue that MMPR is the BEST
Oh it's a good theme alright, but it isn't Rock The Dragon :p

Off the top of my head I remember:
pokemon
digimon
yu-gi-oh
beyblade
I have a funny memory of the sailor moon transformation but nothing else so I'll assume I watched it
I kind of remeber Dragonball z but only kind of
I also remember this show where kids had robots that they used to fight each other but I don't remember what it was called. I think they got a part of the robot when they won the fight too.

There could have been more I don't remember. I really want to know what that robot show was called too.

Pretty much everything listed was on toonami or cartoon network in general, so this is more of a "who thought toonami was awesome" thread.

OT:
Ruroni Kenshin
Cyborg 009
Yu Yu Hakusho
Pokemon (1 & 2 seasons)

I don't care what you say, I stand by it. I grew up with Ocean, and that's what I remember. Though Sean Schemmel is Goku. But I'll take Brian Drummond and Scott McNeil over Sabat any day.

No as a kid I pretty much only watched old cartoons like Droopy and Daffy Duck. On a side note those shows are surprisingly racist.

I think I watched both, the show always seemed to mix both dubs when I watched it. Did Sean Schemmel voice Kakarot in Ocean too? They sound similar

Not quite. Funimation picked up the show around halfway through the Frieza saga. At that point, the new cast of Sean Schemmel, Chris Sabat and everyone else were trying to emulate the style of the Ocean Dub so people wouldn't be confused by the switch of voice actors. It was only after Funi started to let the VAs grow as their own that the distinct voices of Goku and Vegeta changed from their Ocean counterparts.

When the DBZ Uncut release came in the 2000s, they went back and did over the lines so that it didn't sound like Sabat trying to emulate Drummond.

For example, here is a comparison between Drummond and Sabat.

The first time I heard Sabat's voice, I thought it was Drummond, because he was still copying the Drummond's hissing vegeta.

For the record, I still like Drummond better. Schemmel can scream as Goku, but only Drummond can scream as Vegeta.

Yeah, I watched Maya the Bee and The Noozles. I didn't know what anime was, but I could tell at the age of 7 or 8 that they were of a really low production value and the relatively low framerate and bad voice acting compared to the the children's shows I watched confused me a little. I also didn't know David the Gnome was from Spain. What I find kinda interesting about these two cartoons is that neither of them looked too overtly anime-ish and not really annoying at all.

Overall, I'm pretty glad I didn't get sucked into anime at an early age like a lot of the younger people I know. I wasn't really even aware of it until I was in high school, and it was pretty much restricted to the most annoying and nerdy people I knew of, so it didn't exactly make a good first impression with me v:

Plenty, I was practically raised by them...

*Dragon Ball/Z
*Yu-Gi-Oh!
*Beyblades
*Zoids
*Pokemon
*Digimon

Although, back then they were just cartoons to me.

Yes, reruns of Voltron in the very early 90's, as well as the very, very early runs of Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z on what was, if I remember correctly, the WB. By the time I was four or five, I had learned that they came from Japan, although the term in vogue at the time was the vaguely racist "Japanimation." I didn't hear "anime" until I was somewhere around 11 or 12.

I remember running home as soon as the school bus dropped us off so that I'd be back in time for cardcaptors. good times.

Of course I also loved Pokemon, although the thing I remember the most about it now is this sketch. Hands up who used to watch SM:TV live?

I've never watched Dragon Ball but it's MASSIVE here in Italy - literally everyone watches it.

I watched it as a kid and even back then I still found it bloody annoying waiting for them to do something every morning. Especially the big Goku vs Freeza fight, that was the worst.

Watched Pokemon as well but it after the first season it became more like Scooby Doo and I just didn't bother with it any more.

Full Metal Alchemist on the other hand was amazing when I was kid and still the best I've seen in anime. I cracked the shits though when they decided to repeat the whole show again after the 50th episode, bloody assholes.

Technically, yeah.

G1 Transformers was cobbled together from three different anime series: Micromen, Diaclone and Macross.

Robotech was three shows cobbled together too.

I've also seen Battle of the Planets, but not called that.

Basically 80s animators adopted a green policy and recycled footage from Japanese sources.

Robotech
Samurai Pizza Cats
Sailor Moon

Only by Gundam Wing did I realize I was watching anime. They were just cartoons to me when I watched them. Oh, and Pokemon.

Let me see...

Cardcaptors.
Sailor Moon.
Dragonball Original, Z and GT (which wasn't as good, in my opinion) (Totally got into this. BOught loads)
Digimon (Got into this.
Pokemon (Was into this until the 3rd Generation of games.)
Beyblade (I really got into this.)
Duel Master (Got these too)
Rave Master
Kid Muscle??? (It was about some wrestler whose dad was a wrestler, I don't know)

Yeah, I got into every fad. And that was when I became such a massive geek who collects things (and has since lead to my Warhammer addiction)
