I think that he was fully in his right to make such a request. The hospital`s way of thinking about sex is too old fashioned.

True, he was a minor, but since he PAID for it, the prostitute can hardly be held accountable for child abuse.

Rest in peace, where ever you are

That's not a weird last request. It probably happens all the time. It's not like he wanted Liza Manelli to take his virginity.
The story sounds like the setup for the justification of underage prostitution: if he lived in Thailand he would've been all set kind of thing.

What were they worried about anyway, it's not like cancer is contagious.

At least his friends stepped up: good guys.

Is that all he asked for???

if I were dying and had one wish, it would be to have a thouand naked women parade through the streets holding me aloft on a throne made from Gold, silver, diamonds and Coca nuts
(the coca nuts are the most crucial part here boys and girls)

And then once I'm dead they wold give me a two thousand tit salute (unless someone could get a thousand of those women from "total recall" with three tits.....that would be just awesome!!)

One thing that I've noticed no one's mentioned:

At the age of 15, and especially in a scenario where you're unlikely to have had a first KISS, much less a first sexual encounter, sex is one thing above all else. Above "a thing that's fun," beyond what your hormones are telling you to do, sex is a mystery. Perhaps the only other mystery that surpasses it?

What happens after you die, which is doubtless something he'd been contemplating for a while. Perhaps the resolution of one mystery would ease the doubt about the other.

And even if that's overanalyzing it, I would certainly grant this kid his wish. Sex, oddly, doesn't seem immoral to me.

EDIT: And neither does prostitution, come to that.

"And the other half said [it] demeans women and reduces the sexual act to being just a physical one."

There is nothing demeaning about 'reducing' sex to just physical needs.
IT IS A PHYSICAL NEED!!
Psychology shows that consensual intercourse between human beings is healthy, regardless of emotional attachment. It's an inescapable part of our genetic make-up

From personal experience I was as depressed as a burst tyre after I split with a long term ex. Everyone I knew (including women) said I *needed to have a shag*. Yet I resisted, thinking it was *more important to have a relationship*. Well low and behold I got hold of an attractive girl I 'know' and we shag on a regular basis with no attachment. And my mood has picked up... I'm sure most people will agree that's not a coincidence

Kudos to the lad in this story and to everyone involved in helping him. IMO we get one life and one chance to experience anything we can. This was his only chance to experience sex, what's wrong with that? I just hope he enjoyed it and died with a smile on his face. *salutes*

But I wonder, to all of you people who said it was a dumb/waste/useless wish.

What would YOU wish for at that age?

Go ahead, name like 10 things that you actually have the chance to get that is better than Sex.

I don't care how illegal it was. He was dying and been sick for quite some time. Let him have some fun, it doesn't hurt him and hopefully the girl didn't look like crap.
You shouldn't live life without having sex, this is how life goes on and it's just nature. At 15 he might have been a bit young but hey that probably made it more worth it.

Good for the people who helped that kid get his first and last lay.

He was 15 years old. I think any guy on this forum can attest that at 15 years, there is not much else you do think about. Even at a guys most matured age, statistically speaking, we think about sex a lot.

If I was in his position, I don't doubt that for a second that my request would have been the same.

I'm aware of the legal considerations, but ethical? really? I get that the religious prudes who view pre-marital sex as the end-all-be-all of sins, especially for a kid his age, would be up in arms, but a lot of people in this day and age aren't as temperamental on the subject, and would have realized that this request is nothing but rational. We as a society have built up sex to be of the greatest pleasures in life (and for good reason in my eyes. Sex, even in it's consequences, truly is one of the greatest physical pleasures in life), and to not allow him to experience it before his untimely death would have been cruel. Most especially because it was something that he was more then likely INCREDIBLY aware of as something he wanted to experience in his life.

Again, I give wicked kudos to those who allowed this kid his dying wish. I hope if I'm ever in such a situation, that I have people in my life THAT dedicated to allowing me my last wish.

Thats a dumb last request.

There is soo much more to life than sex.
You're right! He should have asked for the chicken on rye bread, or a visit from an obscure sports hero, or maybe a body that wasn't cancer-ridden.

To call any last request 'dumb' seems to me to be revoltingly presumptuous.

He had a fairly benign wish and it was granted with all care and ceremony that could be afforded. We should respect that much at least, whether or not we agree with it personally.

Honestly they could have put the story on the net and gotten a porn star willing to do it for free or, at most, for travel/board. At least show some class and hire a call girl, I hope it wasnt just some whore off the street.

I've never been more proud to be an Australian. That is totally what I would have done. I tip my hat to this kid's grave.
You don't deserve a hat if that makes you proud.
Disregard things I say when they sound cruel, it's just that kid was cheated into thinking that life's true fulfilment was sex.
I guess your a virgin
No, I'm not. Wasted insult. Also, learn to spell. Honestly. You have a seriously disillusioned view of life, by the way.
Wait a minute, he has a disillusioned view of life because YOU believe that this kid was "cheated into thinking that life's true fulfilment was sex?" First off, no where, in any article pertaining to this subject was it ever said that this kid believed this to be the pinnacle of all existence. He was 15, and he'd never had the opportunity to meet, attract, even kiss a girl. The prospect of him ever having sex at that point was pretty much zilch. I think even you can attest that, while sex isn't the end-all-be-all, it is in fact one of life's great physical pleasures. He wasn't tricked into asking for sex, so who are you to say he was cheated? Maybe he just wanted a beautiful, intimate experience before he passed.

Grow up and quit being such a prude. Also, quit needlessly attacking others for voicing their opinion. His virgin response wasn't the most witty, but you seem to forget that you started the whole encounter.
