I went to Disneyland last year. That was the most depressing place I've ever visited. There were so many kids there who's last wish was t go to Disneyland. If that was my dying wish I would sure as hellfire be dissapointed afterwards. Good on the Kid, Im 15 and thats probably what I would do in the situation..or maybe not.

I would ask to visit my hero. Cliche but, meh.

Incredible. There's a dying kid who wants to die as a man - and then there are people who would deny it to him? Because he's 15? If he'd be 17 or whatever is the legal age in AU, that would be OK? I wish to those people who would deny it to him, that when they think they are dying, something important would be denied from them. Like seeing their family for the last time, or food, drink, or something. I hate this world.

BTW I'd also like to know if any of those conservatives or whatever they are called, if they ever spend years in hospital without any normal people contact.

Also, the OP's original bit with the quote about it demeaning women... I don't know how a dead boy could form a negative attitude about females or how someone who's already being paid for sex being paid for sex is demeaning to them.

I think his dare should have been changed to anyone who can think of a better last request for a 15 year old boy. Many people on this thread are forgetting the fact that he's 15, he's a boy, and he's terminally ill. Meaning all the selfless acts he could of ask for with his wish couldn't of been enjoyed as he would be in a morgue whilst some starving children obtain their first full meal. Plus, he's 15. What are we expecting from him? Someone who's last wish is to go all Jesus and become a martyr?

I would've asked for the same thing if I was his age. Not too sure why actually it's considered a "weird" request. Yay, let me be like all other terminally ill children and meet a celebrity who could probably give a damn about me and cares more about his/her publicity status. Kudos to this kid for giving in to primal urge and asking for what human instinct truly wants.

See, this is the problem with such lotteries - they raise one poor kid over another, maybe even poorer one. How do they know which one is more deserving, how do they choose? Pick up a file called "dying kids", put every file on the wall and throw darts? Pick a number from 1 to 100 and roll the virtual dice?

Makes me sick that they are willing to do ANYTHING for one DYING kid than save lives of some kids that may have a chance.

But I kinda agree with your point there. More money should go towards medical resurch and getting people universal health care (so that people can afford to have regular check-up's and catch illnesses fast, rather than putting check-ups off untill it's to late)but let's not get into that mindfield!! I can understand why some people would be iffy about this, but I personally would have granted the wish too. I mean true, there's more to life than sex. But when your a teenager whose dying that has spent a great chunk of his life in the hospital, there really isn't anything left for you to enjoy. I'm happy he got his wish.

Well played, I suppose, but it's still a crying shame. If I hadn't seen the true face of life by now, I may have had tears for that boy. But life is more willing to remove its mask than it should be.

Biologically speaking, the meaning of life is to have sex and reproduce. Imagine you are a mayfly with a life span of only a few hours, all they do is have sex, babies and die.

There's the flaw in your argument. If humans were meant to only do things because of instinct and biology then rape and murder wouldn't be crimes.

Obviously you were not suggesting people should rape, but my point is that humans have evolved beyond basic instincts (some of us), sex is the means to life not the meaning of it.

Whats so wrong with wanting to experience sexual intimacy before you die? We all experience it at one point in our long lives, this kids life was shortened. Makes sense to me, everyone else should mind their own business. Its not like he asked to hunt down men dressed like dear from a helicopter.

No, your argument contains the flaw. Women only carry very little genetic material; a limited amount of eggs. Men have unlimited genetic material; as many sperm cells as you could possibly need. Therefore, men are biologically more of the 'spread your chances'-strategy, while women, by nature, will be very demanding of who gets to fertilize her eggs. Therefore, rape is theft of genetic material and most certainly a crime. Also, murder means that the victim won't be able to reproduce anymore, so that's a crime too from reproductive point of view.

Rape is indeed theft of genetic material, that won't matter to the male if they impregnate women who want children and those that don't to increase the chances, especially if the woman is not aware that the child is the rapists.

Murder of women yes, murder of men? No. I was using murder as an example of something that is genetically right but morally wrong, I was not talking about women, but murder as a whole.

If one male killed off all the other males in the area it leaves a whole bunch of fertile females without any competition so it makes genetic sense.

Genetic sense to those who kills them off perhaps, not to those killed. And in the law/morals system, we also care about what happens to the weaker ones.

This is nothing. This is exactly what I would have wished for. There was a kid awhile back who asked for -- and was given-- a fully upgraded World of Warcraft account at max level with the best gear... Blizzard even gave him custom weapons you couldn't find in the game.
