So fellow escapees, as we all know there are many different control schemes.

A lot of these differ from the norm, from Gitaroo Man's system, to audiosurf's mouse movement, to the Wii remote for Metroid Prime 3.

Today I tried Perfect Dark on the N64 for the 1st time. It actually had an option to use 2 controllers for one player, and I loved it. It worked so well.

What control schemes that differ from the norm do you escapees rate highly?

Resident evil 4 on wii. Most of the time I feels ports are unjustified, but that just felt so right.

I try my best to just learn the default offering of control but theres a few things that must be correct. invert y? when I push up my view goes down, no exceptions and autorun has to be r or numlock. Oh and I generally prefer to strafe with q and e and turn with a and d.

Going from One Thumb Classic to Dual Thumb Sharpshooter on Medal of Honor: Frontline.

So much quicker and effective.

Yeah, I'm boring.

I've recently got into the whole point-and-click adventure game scene. I was never a fan until I played the Chzo Mythos, but I have to say I love this scheme. It's much more interesting and satisfying than the schemes used for stuff like FPSs and so on. Also, I loved the control scheme for Halo Wars. Finally, a console FPS done well. And am I the only person here who thinks the Wii is actually pretty good? I love the control scheme for that (my mom had one for Christmas, bundled with Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort).

I was a console user for all my life, then I tried Keyboard and Mouse on a PC in 2005, playing Vietcong.

I never looked back.
I fucking love that game.
But it doesn't work on Vista...
Are you sure? Have you tried it then? I assume so, which is odd, because I have Vista and games from even as far back as Windows 98 still work perfectly for me. On a laptop, no less. I've got Total Annihilation from the old Windows 98 computer we had years ago, and though we've upgraded our OS several times and now I have a laptop running Vista, it still works just as well as it did back then. Same for stuff like the original Half Life, and American McGee's Alice (though admittedly those are more recent...).

I once tried playing this game where I had to hit buttons and a strum bar on a plastic guitar to the riffs of popular rock songs, it was rather enjoyable.

I recently started switching Lean Left and Lean Right on my keyboard(leaning left uses "E" and leaning right uses "Q"). This is probably the biggest change in how I play games since I started using an inverted Y axis for console games(somewhere in 2004 or 2005).

A personal favorite of mine was always Doomed on Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown. It's actually a lot similar to modern schemes, at the time though using a shoulder button to shoot was weird.

I don't like the W,A,S,D keys for having to move so whenever I get a new PC game I switch them to using the arrow keys for moving.

Because I'm too cheap to afford a steering wheel controller, I use a PS2 controller adapted to USB for Need for Speed: Shift.

Use the triggers for accelerate and brake, and set the left joystick to steer and the right joystick to change gears, like a real sequential shift.

I've never been able to drive manual in a racing game properly before, but this setup makes it so easy.
