Okay, this might be a weird thing to ask, but did anyone get certain hard achievements without even trying?

'Cause that sort of thing happened to be when I did my second playthrough of Bioshock 2, I was doing a gathering with a Little Sister, I was early in the game, so I had to mainly use trap rivets and any cameras and turrets I could find and hack, anyway, I get the achievement 'Master Protector' just after I headshoted a few Splicers, and with everything that went on, I didn't even notice I didn't take any damage nor did any Splicers get to my Little Sister.

Did something like this ever happen to you? did you ever manage to get a difficult achievement without even trying?

This isn't a hard achievement exactly.

I had very nearly completed Rayman Origins, just had a couple of the speed runs and an achievement called "Back at You" left. One of the enemies fires homing missiles at you, you had to get the missile to double back and collide with original enemy. Now I try not to look up solutions to achievements unless I really have to, so I'd had two or three sessions where I'd tried to get this but it hadn't been happening for me and I'd kind of left it. Anyway my five year-old cousin wants to play with my XBox so I stick Rayman on as family friendly fare. I think you see where this is going...

I use my profile because I've basically 100% at this point anyway. He's starting levels and dying repeatedly at the first enemy. He starts one of the mosquito levels and I tell him not to fly at the far right of the screen all the time because that's where the enemies come from. About two seconds later I hear "Spladonk-dink" and the achievements unlocked. Didn't even see how he did it.

As a matter of professional pride, I had to go back and do that achievement myself, only now of course I knew how to do it.

There was an achievement in the original Dead Space for getting through the entire game using only the Plasma Cutter, which I got after finishing my only play-through. I wasn't even going after it; I just never bothered buying any of the other weapons because nothing ever felt threatening enough to justify it, and because I feel that powerful weapons tend to compromise the survival-horror experience.

Even then, the whole experience was so bland, I skipped out the other two DS games...

I got one in Second Son for some vent jumping into a second vent without touching the ground (or something similar, can't be bothered to go look) while just randomly faffing about in the game.

I actually had to dig through my achievements to check, and I also got the Bioshock achievement. Well, I guess we're both a special kind of Big Daddy. :p

OT: While this may not be considered difficult, I compared stats globally in Batman: Arkham City for the 40x combo. I remember getting it while just flowing through a random fight in a state of pure zen and have included it here as "difficult" because I want to feel cool.

In Black Ops 2, I got a medal for getting a triple kill while near death...I was shooting the guy that was shooting at me in a small hallway, and as I was, two more people rounded the corner behind him and they all died before I knew what was going on. lol

I got quite a few in CoD4. The one I remember most was getting the Dominoes achievement with just a random grenade. What's even better is that it happened on Hardcore, where not killing someone with the first explosive is tough to do in it of itself. I think I also got one of the Misery Loves Company achievements because I accidentally cooked a grenade for too long and some unlucky enemy ran around a corner right as it blew.

For CoD 4, I skimmed through the achievements and saw one about killing 4 or 5 enemies with a single grenade launcher shot that just seemed like it would be especially tricky. I started up the campaign and ended up getting that achievement on my very first shot of the entire game.

I actually have interesting tales with the Master Protector Achievement/Trophy from my Let's Play on BioShock 2.
I did a practice file before hand, and it was on the hardest difficulty. Well when in Siren Alley I did a gather, and not a single Splicer showed up once, and as a result I got the trophy right after that. Then, when doing my LP of it, I managed to get the trophy again (different accounts) in Pauper's Drop. The enemies all showed up, but the ones that got close to me never even attempted to shoot at me once for some odd reason.

Not only that, but the Grand Daddy achievement/trophy unlocked for me at an odd moment as well. I had only killed 2 Big Daddies in Pauper's Drop, and a third one hadn't spawn, but I got the Grand Daddy trophy anyway. I figured it might have been because I didn't die during the fight against the Big Daddy in Ryan Amusements, and I didn't die against the Big Sister there either, but it was still weird. Especially since I was playing on Hard Mode the entire game.

I'm not sure if it's really a difficult achievement or not, but in Portal 2 I got that one achievement, where you're supposed to catch a blue-goo'd companion cube before it touches the ground. I did it on my first try, before I even knew the achievement was a thing. Haven't been able to replicate it since, though. :/

In Call of Duty: World At War I got a trophy for killing three enemies with a single bullet, and believe me, I wasn't trying. All I ever play is the Nazi Zombies mode, I've never actually played the single player campaign nor did I think you could unlock trophies outside of it.

Another lucky break was a trophy in Max Payne 3 that requires you to place a headshot while free-aiming during a rooftop tremor. I didn't even know what I had just earned when the trophy pinged so I went online and found out this was one of the hardest trophies in the game, and how everybody was sharing their own theories on how to get it :p

There's an achievement in Just Cause 2 for flying a plane close to the ground. I wasn't trying to get it, I was just trying to find something I thought was around that area. While reading the achievement pop-up, I crashed. -_-

Apparently the strider achievement for completing it in under 4 hours "speed demon" is difficult. But I did it without realising it was even an achievement. Barring that I can't think of any others.

TF2:
War Crime Spybunal - I remember this one, I accidentally fired a rocket by misclicking and killed the spy that had just killed our engineer. Score one for spaz-kills.

Duty Bound: Same idea, but my rocket jump was accidental and the subsequent kill was me panicking and wildly firing because I was convinced I was going to die to the Pyro who looked like an eager Sarlaac awaiting its 1,000 year lunch... instead he ate a rocket and I survived... until I was backstabbed.

That is some pretty easy achievements being posted. I suppose mine would be "the cleaner" from Crysis 2, more specifically the "Psycho" part of it (what gives people trouble) which is kill 5 players in the span of a few seconds online.
Most who care boost it of course, I however was fortunate to come across a merry band of players boosting kills. Came into the game and saw one guy had 21 kills while everyone else had 0. I went into a lobby on the map and saw 6 players all right next to each other, one JAW rocket later and I'd done it. Got some 20 easy kills on the headless chickens before they all quit.

Back when I played WoW we got the "Defeat Bosses in Naxxramas with under 21 people" because a large portion of our raid didn't show up and we said fuck it and went anyway. We didn't really try for raiding achievements as we were a pretty casual guild at that point so when it popped up after KelThuzad it was a nice surprise.

Also I'd say ~40% of the achievements I ever got in wow were completely on accident given that they didn't have an achievement system for the first 3 years I played the game, but I don't think that really counts.

The only one I can think of is in Saint's Row 4.....get from the casino to the power plant without touching the ground. I wasn't even aware that it was an achievement when I did it. I was just having a whole lot of fun.

I also got the Master Protector in Bioshock 2. Both as a trophy and achievevement throught blind luck. Also, not a difficulty thing, but on Borderlands 2, I stumbled upon the twin rainbows scene, and achievement, while trying to get back to Sanctuary. If only they'd said,"that city by the Holy Spirits" instead of "Overlook" took me to the end of the first playthrough to realize they were the same place.

Steppin' Razor, Halo 3: Get a triple kill with the energy sword. Hearing about this from other people, it's apparently pretty difficult. I didn't exactly get it by accident, but I wasn't really trying, either. I just managed to get two people who were already fighting, and killed a third person as they were trying to kill me. I just got lucky.
