Either entitled, delusional jerks or shady, manipulative con-artists. Part of me wants to be optimistic and say this whole situation will teach Steam to add some content control to their Greenlight feature and Youtube to revise their copyright system. Probably will be forgotten about a week after the case.

There are people who put time and work into their games, trying to put out the best thing they can, hoping that this one game, into which they've put blood, sweat, and tears, might just find its way out of the heap and get recognized for the worthwhile piece of craft that it is.

Then there are people like Digital Homicide, who make it all but impossible for the former to actually get the recognition that their work deserves because it's buried under careless, artless, talent-less hack work like what they produce.

In the name of gentility (and avoiding frivolous lawsuits with shades of racketeering), let's just say I don't much care for them or the way they conduct their business.

I think they're quite shit.

I also think Jim should be the bigger man and walk away from them after this lawsuit shite is over and done with. He's partly responsible for things going as far as they did.
He'd be happy to. DiGiHom are the ones that keep going to him.

They responded to his video on their game by insulting him, then they demanded he interview them, and now they're suing him.

If Jim is to blame, it's because he does his job.
He keeps talking about them (beside when they do the above) because he covers crappy Greenlight games/trailers and shady steam business.

He is willing to be civil with them.
Heck, a couple of months ago Jim actually played one of Rob and Jame's games with Rob and gave it phrase.

If you're looking for the one/ones responsible for this continuing to go on, Jim isn't the source.
I never said he's the source, I said he's partly responsible. The whole DigiHom thing was a laugh at first and I'll always be thankful that it gave us "Jim Fucking Sterling son" but after awhile it became the big guy picking on the little guys. Jim could've refused any of their "demands" at any time but hey, can't be passing a chance to get those clicks.

It didn't go from the initial review, to insults, to interview, to lawsuit. It was an on going back and forth between both parties and I was genuinely surprised that Jim was petty enough to continue it for so long.

Or to put it more simply:
Is that memes?
;D

Alright, let me rephrase what I'm trying to say.
I don't think Jim is worthy of blame for this mess.

Digihom chose to start and escalate this issue to the point it is now.
Also, Jim didn't do the interview for clicks. His channel doesn't run adds nor does his site so he doesn't directly profit from increasing the terrific by way of controversy.
He agreed to it after first saying no because fans asked him to do it via his twitter account.

True, he could have continued to say no, but instead of just not giving Digihom what they wanted, he'd be saying no to his fans as well.
Don't get me wrong, I'm fully aware Jim hasn't been completely polite throughout this whole affair. However, given Digihom's actions I'd say he's done better than most would expect.

In the grand big picture, could Jim have just done nothing in response to any of Digihom's actions? Sure, that wasn't impossible, but I don't think it's a standard you can blame someone for not living up to.

Hopefully, after this lawsuit (if it does go all the way to court), the only time we'll hear about them from Jim is if they do some shifty business, or release a bad game.
So, like in two weeks or so after. Maybe a month.

Entitled arseholes, with delusions of grandeur who seem to shit out games until something sticks.
The games they produce are shoddy at best and not even worth the dollar price tag they cost.
Reminds me of all the really old arcade game clones that just rehash the same idea over and over with slightly different graphics.
So, Ubisoft?

OT: if they sold their ideas to a competent development crew, I'd probably buy it.
Singling out Ubisoft is not fair. You could use the comparison for many companies, Nintendo, EA, Sega the list would be huge but at least they are generally competent and do produce memorable games and others that miss the mark by a mile.

Digital Homicide have consistently produced absolute shit, seeming to care more for quantity than quality. Two of DH's 'games' released on the same day are reskinned versions of exactly the same one (Wyatt Derp and the wizard one, which I can't even be arsed to look for the name).

Lets not forget that they've been known to slap stuff up to Greenlight under different studio names. Pretty much everything they've ever done has proven to be little more than a broken asset-flip of a game.

"They're coming out with new stuff!"

To that I say "Who fucking cares?" If you buy one of their games expecting anything other than a broken mess of (probably) stolen assets that equates to a digital middle finger getting shoved in your face, then you're simply fulfilling the age-old saying of "A fool and their money will soon be parted."

Wait, digital homicide slaps him with a law suit so he has to be quiet about them then they start pumping out new stuff? Oh man, what scum. Silence your opponent and make a quick buck in the meantime...
all things considered this doesn't really seem far off the mark.

Or to put it more simply:

He's barely mentioned that he's being sued by them so wouldn't that sort of disprove the idea that he's capitalising off their every mistake? Plus he's responded to the "being mean to DigiHom gets you more page views" thing a few times. He gets lots of views anyway and just like with DigiHom's claim that he's hurt their sales there's no real evidence that I'm aware of to say he's profiting off DigiHom videos more than other videos he makes. The original Squirt play (sorry Jimpressions) of slaughtering grounds was fairly standard fare until DigiHom's reaction.

I think he's given them plenty of opportunity to stop and generally when he does a new video on them it's because they've done some new shittiness rather than repeating the shittiness he's already covered. If he decided to stop making videos about their ongoing antics that would be tantamount to giving them a free pass on shit behaviour.

Recently Digital Homicide have thrown up a youtube account and have been posting new videos
They are a prime example of what is wrong with Steam's Early Access, the reality for them is that if Steam Early Access didn't exist in the form it does, i.e with zero quality assurance or quality control on the content that can be placed on the system then this 'studio' would not exist. In many respects I would have thought that the introduction of Steam's refund policy would have finally put pay to them but I am guessing that the games are being sold at a price point where most folk (if their are any folk) will just go fuck it it's a shit game but I only paid a couple of bucks for it so I can't be bothered going through Steam's refund process to get my cash back.

I wonder if they actually fixed that.. I mean they used to actually throw them up there for 10-20 dollars, I don't know how you'd look at that in this perspective.
