Direct 2 Drive incredible September sales!

I don't think many people are even aware of Direct 2 Drive, IGN's digital distribution website, but I felt I should let my fellow Escapists know that they are having sales right now that rival anything Steam has ever done.

There are two primary deals that are like 50-75% every 24 hours and then a page full of $6 games that changes every Wednesday.

Some examples:

Lord of the Rings Online (1 month VIP access + 1,000 Turbine pts): $5
Fallen Earth Blood Sports: $6
Crayon Physics Deluxe: $6

Yesterday I bought Star Wars Battlefront 2 for $5, but the deal has since changed.

The best part about D2D is that they don't have bloatware or invasive DRM that I feel other digital stores have, and instead opt for a CD-Key based system. Anyway wanted to share the deals with the community here.

They have less hoops than Steam Games, in my experience. You just copy+paste the CD Key they give you to activate the game and start playing. You don't have to run a program in the background, you don't have to jump through hoops if you aren't connected to the internet, just old school CD Key DRM.

I know of it. I just prefer using Steam.

Brand loyalty is weird man. If they're offering a game you want at 75$ off what Steam is offering, why wouldn't you buy from them?

Yeah it is, but I think there's still a retail version if I remember correctly.

It did. Yesterday. No reason paying 5$ for it, that's for sure.

Ha, yeah just noticed that they were going with microtransaction model. However the D2D Version comes with 1 month of VIP access and 1,000 Turbine Points. Ain't nothing 'Free', ever.

Here's a wacky idea - You can actually purchase from both stores! I know, crazy right? Believe it or not Steam doesn't delete your games if you find a better deal elsewhere.

D2D is a fine service. While I prefer Steam as a digital distribution platform I've bought stuff from D2D before. Got the Titan's Quest combo deal from them last september during this very same sale for 5 bucks. Super great price.

I've been keeping up with this sale but nothing strikes me so far.
