No where did they say the thieves were dirty! I was rooting for homeless thieves to make money!

OT: Eh , at least no one died? It's just a game , could be a lot worst . Now , had i pre-ordered it , and was unable to get it , i would not only ask for my money back , but request a free version of the standard game . Or threaten to never pre-order from whatever store again .
Request a free standard version of the game that was stolen after getting a refund? How is that fair?
Well iunno how it works in other countries . But that shit would sure as hell work where i live ( Canada) . Iv'e gotten free shit because the story inconvienienced me somehow . Basically you say

Me: " thank you for the refund , but your services are shit and i think i'll take my business elsewhere! " .
Store: " no,no,no,no here have some free stuff !" .
Me:"Well don't mind if i do!".

Hi, I'm Belgian and I happen to have a colleague at work who preordered that "Join or Die" edition. And that guy has been going on about how amazing the game is going to be ("best game evar!!!!!!!!!!!" and other such trite drivel). All because I am the only other diehard gamer in the office and he is an insufferable prick who exists solely to enlarge his e-peen.

So really ... I find this news bloody hilarious. I hope he doesn't learn about it until I get to gleefully inform him of it. I'm thinking about setting up cameras to capture every second of it from different angles.

Does this make me a bad person? Yeah, but you know, when opportunity beckons ...

It only makes you a bad person if you fail to follow through with your capturing of the event and consequent uploading of said video onto the internet.

This thread should now be about what you would make with a few thousand copies of AC3.

My vote goes to a better game, but I don't think there's enough to work with.

captcha suggestion - cat's cradle. Would have to be a bloody big cat.

It would be awesome if Ubisoft gave everyone who had a pre-order of the special edition a free one. I doubt they will though.

SOMEONE DIDN'T DEFEND THEIR CONVOY IN TIME.

I mean ffs Ubi, all you have to do is press L2 and assign some recruits to it.

What the hell are the thieves going to do with a few hundred copies of Assassins Creed III? Sit on a throne of generic, slightly-above-average videogames?

Sounds real fun!
Well, the "Join or Die" edition does include an Assassin medallion so maybe they are going to start their own assassin gang with hoods and springblades and all that stuff.
And also it does include "George Washington's notebook revealing all the truth & secrets about the Assassins and the Templars during the American Revolution" and I wouldn't put it beyond a criminal mind to misinterpret that, especially if they are fans of Nicolas Cage.

See, people, that is theft.

But seriously, I wonder since when video games have become such a lucrative hijack targets, didn't something similar happen with ME3 over there? Or was that just a logistics fuckup?

Two trucks full of MW3 were stolen a while ago. The first was run off the road and then the drivers were teargassed, then the second had the drivers get held at gun point until they gave up the truck.

I see. I still don't get it why it seems such a tempting target for a crime on that scale. Just baffling me...

The thing is, except for the truck, nothing of real value is lost.

The game serials are all blacklisted and the games cannot be resold. All the thieves now have is fuel for a bonfire.
Ubi in the meantime can simply get another truckfull of DVDs printed for a tiny amount.

this is actually quite hilarious, mostly due o the fact that every single copy was on the same truck, for 3 countries, must have been a big truck.
Yeah, that is quite astounding. For one country it's somewhat understandable but 3? At least they won't do it again.
Combined population of the Benelux is some 27 million (17mil NL, 10mil Belgium, and two guys and a dead horse in Luxembourg). Now think of the rate at which people order special editions, and the amount of game boxes you can fit on a lorry, and you'll be somewhat less astounded.

Maybe they were simply trying to protect the customers from how horrendously awful the game is.

Since Ubi has been pissing on the memory of the Templars since day one, I'd like this to be some sort of easy-going revenge, and I'd like all copies of AC3 to be burnt on a pyre. That would make me pretty happy and proud.

It's much more likely, though, that it's just average thieving lowlife scum that grabbed the cargo, and they'll peddle their wares on ebay or wrap their drug shipments in AC3 special edition boxes.

Refer to my earlier post in the thread. Once again, it is not the size that bothers me.

Holland, Belgium, and Luxemburg aren't really that big when combined.
You might not know this, but here in 'Murrica, there's nothing we fear more than the might of "the axis of lowlands". Their combined size is almost as big a one of states, so we're very cautious not to provoke their wrath.
