Well here is my list of disappointments as of late.
on the top is my biggest disappointment of all time: Mass Effect 3

Others were: Uncharted 3 mild disappointment, nothing too serious.
Max Payne 3 major disappointment Rockstar tinkered with the formula and broken it completely. MP3 was complete bore fest and sh*tty Max Payne game.
Witcher 2 after giving into all the fuss about the game. i found boring, clumsy and poorly constructed game. it's like they never heard of user experience.

I've posted in similar threads that my biggest disappointment was probably Blacksite: Area 51, because I had played Area 51 and loved it. I went into Blacksite expecting something... But they couldn't have missed the mark any more if they tried.

If Karutomaru was still around he would you a speech about his hate of Ubisoft (last mention of him I swear).

Anyway for me that would be that Wii game The Last Story. They made it to be one of an excellent game on the Wii due to the trailers mentioning the awesome features and story.

The story was cliche (but yet again this game is made by people who worked on Final Fantasy) and the whole romance was awful (I felt the whole love thing was tad on). Sure the characters in your party were alright but nothing special.

The game itself was far too lineral since I thought there were some freedom to it like any other rpg but not this one. Since the game is played in chapters some of them are thrown at you into a situation instead of doing something else (just make sure you do those when you jump into the next chapter).

Sure it take place in 3rd person so you would thing the battle would be cooler like that but it isn't for this rpg as you just mainly hacking and slashing your enemy away and the whole wonky cover system. There is some statergy to it but it's far too easy to use (get healer girl to heal, fire or ice guy to debuff and etc).

The online features had some potential but they only just skim it at best and the online fighting is broken due to the fack a caster charge attack is OHKO.

I don't feel like complaining about Diablo 3 or some other game everyone is whining about. I also don't feel like arguing with them particularly much.

I'm going to be THAT GUY and complain about something new! Darkest of Days! Aren't I original?

Dead Island. I thought it looked really awesome in trailers, and once I eventually purchased it, I wasn't very happy with the results. It just got very tedious and boring quickly for me. I'm not exactly sure why, it just seemed like I was doing the same thing over and over. The graphics are incredible, though.

Oh, it's one of those hundreds of "whine about something" -threads. Just what the forums need more of.
You forgot the part about people have extremely unreasonable expectations. ¬__¬

As for me, I suppose Spider-man: Web of Shadows. That game looked so awesome, but when I got it I found the voice acting to be lackluster at best and I spent most of the time I did put into that game being Luke Cage's *****. Although it did lead to one hilarious moment where I accidentally exploded a car, because the auto-lock on for the web-stike locked on to it for some reason, and sent the driver flying and I manged to swoop in and snag the driver out of the air and put him safely on the ground. "Thank god I saved you! ...from me."

Well the ME3 ending has got to be the new worst ending ever but i'll let that one disappointment slide since the entire game bar the last 5 minutes was fucking incredible.

So maybe Brink? It would have been awesome if they had actually managed to make it not lag like a ***** for the first few weeks... I went back to it months after its release and it was really fun since omg no lag now! Pity it took so fracking long the whole playerbase has packed up shop and pissed off.

K, Witcher 2 was quite disappointing. There's a difference between actually being mature and just going "AM I GRIMDARK ENOUGH YET!? NO?! MOAR GRIMDARK INCOMING GUYS!"

The combat was fine if a bit boring. The characters were ok and shit but god the constant Grimdark in your face just ruined the whole game...

Now don't get me wrong I like Grimdark just fine, look at Dragonage 2 for example look at the world for 2 seconds and you'll agree that it's damn dark. The difference is that DA2's Grimdark was in the background, muted, never drawn attention to but always there lurking. Y'know like proper atmosphere!

It doesn't need to rub rape references and 50 billion swear words in your face every five seconds to remind you that it is feeling quite Grimdark today.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution. That's right.

It wasn't a bad game at all, but the game was hyped in a way that wasn't really true to the product. It seemed like they were trying to sell us on a great story, with branching paths to objectives (implied to be like Deus Ex as opposed to Invisible War), and a strong theme about what it is that makes us human.

The actual game had this pretentious swagger to it, like it was trying to tell some kind of great story with deep characters, but I never saw that depth actually show. At best the game was on the level of an above average action movie. All those shots of Jensen sitting around thinking about what he's become didn't factor into the final game - ten minutes in he's fully augmented and about 150% more awesome at everything than before. What's the downside?

The combat was tight and the art was fantastic, but the "branching path" gameplay felt identical to Invisible War. You could either fight everyone in the room, or take the one air duct that leads DIRECTLY to the computer terminal you need to hack. I remember Deus Ex having maintenance shafts, catwalks, ventilation systems that almost comprised their own level. It felt like you were actually planning an assault on a functioning facility as opposed to following a linear "stealth path".

Anyway, I'm aware that Human Revolution was a good game, but I had gotten my hopes up for something groundbreaking, in either the story or gameplay department, and it simply did not deliver that.

Final Fantasy 13...oh good god, the soul crushing disappointment...
I tried playing this twice. The first time I made it to the great plains...I think...in Chapter 11. The second I only made it to the part where you control Sahz and Vanille in a junk yard. I could have forgiven the game for it's story, linear design and, horrible characters but what I really can't forgive is the level caps and, fighting system. Another gripe I have is how they turned Shiva into an implied incestuous motorcycle.

Saints Row: The Third. All they did was take out gameplay and add in useless gimmicks. Saints Row 2 is better in almost every way.
They took out Septic Avenger and Crowd Control and replaced it with tank mayhem and, a new flavor of trail blazing. I didn't like the new hand-to-hand fighting mechanics either.

I was disappointed by how short Mario Kart 7 ended up being. Then again, I don't play multiplayer so my fault for having shitty internet.

Red orchestra 2, it was just..... awful.

That's the only game I have ever regretted buying in a steam sale.
