Not too sure if they really **** as sequels, (some stuff about Goldeneye here)
Heh heh "****" as sequels

Immaturity aside I would have to say Kingdom Hearts 2 was pretty bad. of course by the time it came out I had decided that the original wasn't really that good either (Any RPG game where you cant weild an actual sword wasn't very well thought out)
I must disagree there in full. Kingdom Hearts 2 is a prime example of the rarest form of sequels: one that surpasses the original in virtually every way that matters. The same can be said with God of War II, Jak II/Jak III, Ratchet and Clank II, and from a certain standpoint, Majora's Mask.
Maybe I'm not the best person to give an opinion about the sequel, since (as I mentioned before) I had come to the decision that Kingdom Hearts 1 was utter shit, and a continuation of that storyline would just anger me further. Honestly I was just picking on Kindom Hearts 2 since I wanted to point out that "****" thing and thought it would be a good idea to add something that was on topic

Not that it looks like anyone remembers it, but...

Escape From Monkey Island.
How......how could you..... I love all the Monkey Islands in all their hilariouos glory! I'll admit they are slow and a couple of the sequels arent as good as the original but they always came up with new puzzles and funny dialogue. Ah well that's just my opinion. :)

It's hard for me to say, I actually think most sequels I've played as of late topped the original.

However, one that does come to mind is Golden Sun: The Lost Age.
Around the midmark, or even later, it was best than the first one, but the beginning was awful.
You were just thrown in the middle of nowhere without any clue about what to do next and had to guess the order of events. Annoying. Then they re-did that, only worse, when they gave you a ship.

Just, please, stick to linearity.

Also, the Pokemon series has a bad case of this. Ruby/Sapphire were incredibly disappointing compared to Gold/Silver.
