Discussion thread for final Smash Direct

Hey everyone, I missed the entirety of the Direct because of school and then internet troubles. All I know is that some guy from Xenoblade and Bayonetta are both announced as DLC.

I decided to make a general discussion thread for the direct. What did you think of it? Do you have any worries about negative effects these new characters can have on the game? What about the positives? Any speculation on the future of the Smash franchise? Ect.

Personally, I have only played Smash a few times, but my game club is having a Smash competition this friday so I ordered it from GameFly just so I could practice. I'm excited for Bayonetta because she's one of my favorite video game characters.

Spoiler: The Newcomers announced tonight

Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates (can be male or female)​

Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII​

Bayonetta from Bayonetta. She can look like her original self or herself from Bayonetta 2​

Aside from those there were a number of Mii costumes...which I can't find at the moment. Anyway, I am a bit disappointed overall. I was a supporter of King K. Rool but oh well...Number 2 is the one I'm most excited for to be honest and the stage that comes along with it is incredibly impressive. I don't plan to get it as soon as possible though...maybe in a week I'll wind up getting an eShop card. I'm a bit disappointed that the total results for the Smash Poll wasn't revealed though. I'd like to have seen who was voted on and maybe a top-5 across Europe, Japan and, the US.

Thank you for filling me in! I watched the direct on YouTube but I still appreciate it.

I'm not that big a fan of Final Fantasy 7 (I liked the story but not the gameplay) but I like the character of Cloud and it seems he will be an interesting character to play as.

Yeah, King K Rool would have been cool. He would have been another one of the big antagonist smashers (Bowser and DeeDeeDee) but wouldn't have to be nerfed to be in the game (like why they didn't include Ridley). I was hoping for Shantae, or Patty Wagon from Mighty Switch Force. Good thing Crusade is adding Shantae soon! Shovel Knight would have been an amazing fighter as well I have to say, but I have to admit, the shovel knight fan base is kind of obnoxious in their support for SK in Smash (and overall).
