I personally like Michael Ford of The Conduit. Once the suit gets upgraded his disembodied hand looks really cool and he uses some interesting guns.

It has been a while since I played a Half life, do we ever get in game evidence that he is more than a pair of arms?

I used console commands to check.

He...he has no face.

The front of his head is black. Really black.

The Darkness, an under-rated game; it wasn't perfect, but it tried to do things differently and it had a great story in my opinion.

I like the Far Cry 2 variety, where the hand can manifest a variety of other limbs to heal once it has sustained enough damage.
