Yeah this is a farewell to the good times Disney and me had when the shows were actually good. That so Raven even Hannah Montanna. The shows that shown that both authority figures and kids can be trolls all while teaching kids the pressures of the world. Pressures like prejudice and bullying. Now shows on Disney seem to take a nose dive to pure ridiculous comedy that you no longer want to laugh but feel sorry for those who get the short end of the joke. And even some of the shows now seem so watered down because they try to be too family friendly. All I can say is at least the kids of this generation still have some decent shows on cartoon network.

Yea, it really seems like Nick and Disney have entered into a never-ending loop of "copy the other's formula but MORE!" I'm sure eventually they will reach a singularity of MORE ZANY and start coming back to Actually Entertaining-ville. Some day.

Maybe, the two are trying to conform to modern day concepts of "Family Friendly" even though they cut a corner here and there. Like the show victorious, remember back to like Fresh Prince of Belair and The nanny a slutty woman would show her stomach, but in Victorious a decent girl would dress in something as little as a bikini for almost every show.

Well considering they are making another Avatar show, and it's really good so far, I have no problem with them right now

The days of Darkwing duck, tailspin and goof troop are gone. FOREVER! Disney literally killed the people who created the show and their families and burnt any evidence of the good shows existence.

Need disney like comedy, how about ponies?

OT: I agree, except from Pixar (Even though they just made the crappy cash in, cars 2) disney really sucks right now. It's all just stuff for tween audiences that only want cute boys, or hot girls and fat jokes.

Well, Phineas and Ferb exist.

...

I like it.

Oh and about Disney, you're complaining about "pure ridiculous comedy?" How about the fact that the rest of their shows are live action and only include singing and dancing. Seriously, it's like Beiber-wannabe central over there! Same thing with Nick.

Disney had two good times that define their brand:

Walt's era, 1936-1942: Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi

Eisner's era, 1989 - 1994: The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King

True I just feel sorry for this generation. When they grow up they won't know what good shows are and have to suffer with Michael Bay's movies.

Wow... this thread makes me feel old. I have to say to me Disney is and has been for some time Pixar's Muse, they have finally come up with decent movies without Pixar like Tron and John Carter but as far as pure animated gold their solo time fell once Toy Story hit.

And the HUB.
*Cough*
Anyway, I agree. The Disney channel is dreadful. Luckily we still have, as you said, Cartoon Network, and like I said, the HUB. Well, one show on the HUB anyway, the rest are average or below.

I was on Youtube listening to a bunch of songs from a lot of the Disney movies I used to watch not too long ago. Not that I'm older, I realized a lot of them had some sort of message or meaning to them that I never actually got when I was younger. It made me appreciate those movies a hell of a lot more. :)

There's still some pretty decent Disney related stuff that comes out now. Like The Princess and the Frog and Tangled. Both of those movies I found myself enjoying despite the fact that I'm older now.

I can't really say much about the shows to be honest, since most of my TV-related entertainment comes from the internet now. But from the few things I saw from Phineas and Ferb, it seems pretty decent.

That's so Raven? That is what you call quality children's programming? Okay, I guess... I mean, you are entitled to your opinions no matter how wrong strange they are.

But I agree, children's programming on Disney and Nick seems to really have gone down the crapper recently. Luckily CN still has good stuff, but I feel sorry for kids that have not grown up with Batman:TAS, Gargoyles, or Beast Wars. There are very few good "serious" kids shows nowadays. :(

Maybe it's because I'm a little older but I never gave That's So Raven or, Hannah Montana a chance. I consider Disney Channel's last great run of programming was back when it showed Gargoyles, Goof Troop, etc. That's So Raven and, Hannah Montana look more or less the same as the other tween sitcoms they show on the Disney channel these days. Nick as well but that's a different channel.

Don't you understand? This is all one big marketing gimmick to get you to go out and buy the DVD sets of good series. It also forces parents to show kids what good comedy used to be. Be responsible! Don't let your kids watch (new)Disney!

i grew up with flintstones, tom and jerry, whacky races and the looney tunes and such like. those were good kids programs. the problem with kids nowadays is that most of them probably havent watched topcat (i believe he may be called bosscat in USA)

Or... they'll keep at it until they both collapse into a Sinuglarity of Utter Stupidity and destroy reality...

I like a few Disney shows, 'Shake it up', 'Austin & Aly', 'Phineas and Ferb' and as far as it goes in film, 'Tangled' was pretty damn great. (I don't care what anyone says, it's in my top 5) and 'Princess & The Frog' was beautiful.
