Is anyone else going to this concert? It's coming up on November 27, at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. For those who don't know about it, Distant Worlds is a concert playing music from the Final Fantasy games with a full orchestra and choir. They're doing shows in Tokyo, Toronto, Chicago, London, and Sydney aover the course of the next 12 months or so. Check out the website here. [http://www.ffdistantworlds.com/] I'm really psyched to see this concert and was wondering if any other Escapists are going to the Toronto one?

My brother and I are planning on making a day trip of it and sightseeing around Toronto before the show. So if any other Escapists are going we could totally hang out and maybe some natives could serve as tour guides for us. :D Or maybe you just have suggestions for places to check out? The CN Tower is definitely on the list, but aside from that I haven't really thought of much else to see yet. So any help would be appreciated. You guys should definitely come out, I hear it's a great show!

Based on the youtube videos I've seen of Distant Worlds, it'll probably be fantastic. AND you get to be in the same building as Nobou Uematsu, or even get to meet him for another $50 or so. I wanna go when they come to London, but I dunno if I'll be able to find anyone geeky enough to go with, who could also tolerate me possibly welling up at a FFVIII song.

Obviously, being England based I can't come, or suggest any useful places to see, but I hope you have a good time and possibly even get a mini-Escapism out of it.

Yeah, I considered going for the meet and greet, but after the cost of the tickets and the hotel, it just seemed like too much. So I spent that money getting better seats :D But I'm sure the London one will be awesome, too. And you have a whole year to prepare!

OK, I saw the title for this thread and thought it was going to be a thread about Toronto, and how it's a distant world because there is so much about it that you don't realize, etc. etc.

OT: This seems like it would be a really cool concert. If there was one in Boston or somewhere I might see if I could get tickets.

Sorry, can't make it to Toronto. Too foreign.

I could probably make my way over to Toronto... but it's a bit far for one concert. Maybe if it were in Montreal(or better yet Ottawa) but I'll have to pass on this one. It's too bad, I really like FF music in orchestra form.

I saw this when it was in Vancouver, BC. Great concert with some really swell selections. It was the fullest I have ever seen the Orpheum Theatre, and the crowd was just brimming with energy. If you like the music from the FF series at all, this is well worth the time and money.

I wish I could go, but I'm in BC, and the costs would be too much. Maybe one day they'll come back to Vancouver. *fingers crossed*

So does anybody have any suggestions for things to do in the Toronto area while we're waiting for the concert to start? It's at 8:00PM, so the day's pretty much wide open.

But you could have got a cd, a signed program, and maybe a few dead skin cells after shaking Uematsu's hand and stammering praise at him so you could clone him!

The London one has to be awesome. I mean, at the Royal Albert Hall, and hopefully with the London Symphony Orchestra (as they don't have a touring symphony this time, and appear to be in the habit of using the local major symphony), how can it not be?

I kinda wish they did some more drastic reinterpretations of the music (some of the OCR compositions live would be incredible) but this looks sensational anyway. For anyone who hasn't encountered a symphony performing Final Fantasy music:

If you want One Winged Angel, I'm not gonna link you to it (I think it's one of the most overated things in Final Fantasy fandom), but their version is on youtube along with a heap of other tracks.

They seem to move around a lot, so they'll probably be back on the West coast next time around.
