Cannibal Holocaust

Shh, we do not speak it's name! Well okay, we do, but the cinematic fad of ultra-realism died almost as quickly as it began and if only for the sake of the animals - good riddance! Incidentally, do you know what the director of that film cut his industry teeth on? Asterix cartoons... The mind boggles.

The 1997 version of Michael Haneke's "Funny Games" is another film that leaves you with a queasy-uneasy feeling.

Yeah, it's sick enough that the director was a hair away from spending his life in prison in Italy, they actually thought it was real and people died during the shooting...
They had to redo the impalement scene for the Italian justice to get off the hook (bad pun, sorry > )

For a film made in 1980, the special effects are damned good imo, but yeah the animals got the raw end (2nd bad pun, i'm on fire!) during the shooting...

look it up, it disturbed because of how shit it was.

costumes sucked, music blowed, story made no sense, the characters were unlikable and had shitty dialogue, and the camera was never still.

and it had the MOST wtf ending ever.

the 2 'cannibals' find an ipod outside their cave and start having sex. and all the survivers are dead btw.

Back to topic, disturbing movies. For sheer disgust factor, Hostel 2. I've never even watched it, just had the misfortune of seeing some of the scenes from it. What in the holy name of fuck is wrong with Eli Roth? And for disturbing, a la utterly bizarre, goes Eraserhead. Such a deranged movie, I still enjoy it, but my brain hurts after watching it.

Ah, the Mist. That movie... ah. Oh, and "The Thing"- the John Carpenter one. I couldn't even finish it. I don't care how shitty the effects were, it still freaked me out. Though, Diabeetus guy being in it made it a little easier to handle... for awhile.

Oh man, you're missing out! The Thing is a classic, I watch that again every few years, so good. And for it's time, the effects really weren't that bad, and Carpenter did a good job of using darkness to make it spookier. (Much like why Alien is STILL creepy to this day)

While I was on a foreign film binge, I watched a Chech version of Faust that was very disturbing, if Fuast wasn't disturbing enough. There is actually a sex scene with a puppet. And not a Team America-type puppet sex, but a live action man/puppet scene. Very disturbing.

I haven't seen the original Funny Games, but I have seen the remake and is IMdB is correct, it's a shot by shot remake. I almost couldn't finish that movie. Michael Pitt is just one of the creepy actors ever filmed.

Also, Hard Candy was a bit disturbing, but also really, really good.
