I play pretty much any game that I find good, which can be anything from the new fifa game to Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect 2. Not trying to brag, just saying.

I mainly play shooters. They're my staple genre with RPGs being a close second. I love Hack'n'Slash action games, but it's hard for one to grab me. I love Action-RPGs because of the multiplayer, but there are so few around. I quite like RTS, however I prefer them on PC and my computer can barely running Europa Universilas III (which I'm currently playing and throughly enjoying). Other those I'll play most things. I'm not a huge fan of fighting games but I'll play Scenario Campaign on Tekken 6 from time-to-time or maybe a bit of Super Street Fighter IV with a couple friends. I'm not a fan of sports or racing games, however. I would like to play a good turn-based JRPG (or possibly any JRPG), but I can't get into Final Fantasy and no other one has caught my eye since Dark Cloud on the PS2. Although I do hear that there's a Steampunk one about...
You've probably heard this already but:
Persona 3 FES
Persona 4
Any Shin Megami Tensai game really

Turn based JRPGs don't get much better than that play them, love them and have most other games ruined for you by them :p

Also there are quite a few good Nippon Ichi games, my favorite's Soul Nomad and the World Eaters.

As for steampunk JRPGs none that I know of but if there is one I'd like to play it.

Have you played Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle by the way?

Why all the hate for casual games? Some of them are great.

Chime, AaAaAA!!, Super Meat Boy, and those are just off the top of my head.
They are fun, simple, and have low barriers to entry for non-hardcore gamers. You don't always need an overly developed plot (just look at Halo), it just needs to be fun.

Just to slow the hate for me because I do enjoy casual games. I also play RPGs, RTS, FPS, action adventures, sometimes sports or fighters (but only as P2), and I will pick up a racing game every now and then (preferably the silly and/or over the top). Oh, and what ever Little Big Planet qualifies as.

I expect people to overwhelmingly reply that they play RPGs but don't play sports games. Buncha nerds!
i don't care what anyone says, sports games do not translate well onto a monitor. i've played sports most of my life (esp. soccer and volleyball) and i cannot play sports games on my computer or PS3 without losing my mind from boredom. it just doesn't work for me and i can't really explain why.

i typically play RPG, FPS, pure action (e.g. god of war) and adventure games (of which there have not been very many of late). i will play strategy games provided they are RTS, but i generally don't seek them out.

I've tried to play as many different games as possible over the years purely based on the fact that I had no idea I'd even enjoy an RPG until I first stuck in FF7. I try to always give a genre the chance to surprise me and I think in almost every genre I've found a game that held my interest, at least for a while.

I'd honestly say that the only genre that hasn't impressed me a whole lot is RTS. I've tried several (WC III, Starcraft series, Command & Conquer series, Total War series)and, for me, personally, I never felt very immersed in the experience, even when I found the stories quite good and the design adequate. Not to mention that balancing issues are to be initially expected and eventually accepted by the playing community over time, and that's always been a turn off.

What I love: RPG (WoW mostly)
What I like: RTS, TBS (Starcraft 2, Heroes of Might and Magic)
What I don't mind: Solo FPS (Half life 2), FPS/RPG (Fallout 3), Adventure (Prince of Persia)
What I just dont like: Any competitive PvP either it FPS or RTS, Sports games (except maybe Soccer)
Completly out of the chart: Team fortress classic, I dont know why but one and rare kind of competitive FPS I played and really liked

I actually play very few games. I simply can't afford all the games I'd like to play so I only end up getting the ones I simply can't miss.

i love every game genre and every story style except mmorpg's and sports games. not that i inherently hate those two genres. they just get old incredibly fast.
