It's funny to read some of the comments here and it astounds me that everyone thinks that if it isn't RB or GH with a plastic drum set, microphone, and guitar, it 'must' be lame because Lord knows there can't be anyone possibly liking other types of music than what already represented adnaseum in those titles...and hey, I own them as well.
But personally, I love DJ Hero, and a few of my friends that have tried it have also enjoyed it much more than they first considered.
With that being said, I for one am glad that they are continuing the franchise and I will be in that small minority to purchase the sequel.
However, I do think Activision is making a strategic and marketing flaw by NOT supporting the current version. Since the game debuted, they have only released 2 track packs, the last one being the week of Thanksgiving. So there has been no new DLC in about two months. There is NO mention of any new DLC at the official website, nor any rumors one way or another on any board or ezine I've come across. It seems very, very silent on the DJ Hero front...not very inspiring to me as a consumer believing Activison stands behind their product, especially when there seems to always be new content for RB and the GH franshises.
What kind of signal is that to your consumers when you say that the sequel will be ready later this year, but mum on support for the current version. So maybe they don't have to turn out tracks like RB/GH, but at least throw consumers a bone who paid the $99+ for the original game and peripheral by saying "New DLC in developement", perhaps on a cycle of 1 track pack a month.
