The game was great. It didn't sell well because like he said, it's more of a niche game. They'll probably go other routes to help make it more accessible to a wide variety of gamers. It'd be nice if they let you make your own mixes, but with the detail that goes into that it may be too hard for them to that. Who knows?

There are three things are keeping this from catching on in my opinion.

1. Pretending to be a douche-bag while spinning records is not as fun as pretending to be Slash.

2. More junk. How many more obtrusive plastic controllers do people really want in their living rooms? Between the Guitar Hero and Rock Bands do we really need another hunk of shit taking up space?

3. Price.

However, I do hear that the game is fun. I would play it at a friends house.

It's funny to read some of the comments here and it astounds me that everyone thinks that if it isn't RB or GH with a plastic drum set, microphone, and guitar, it 'must' be lame because Lord knows there can't be anyone possibly liking other types of music than what already represented adnaseum in those titles...and hey, I own them as well.

But personally, I love DJ Hero, and a few of my friends that have tried it have also enjoyed it much more than they first considered.

With that being said, I for one am glad that they are continuing the franchise and I will be in that small minority to purchase the sequel.

However, I do think Activision is making a strategic and marketing flaw by NOT supporting the current version. Since the game debuted, they have only released 2 track packs, the last one being the week of Thanksgiving. So there has been no new DLC in about two months. There is NO mention of any new DLC at the official website, nor any rumors one way or another on any board or ezine I've come across. It seems very, very silent on the DJ Hero front...not very inspiring to me as a consumer believing Activison stands behind their product, especially when there seems to always be new content for RB and the GH franshises.

What kind of signal is that to your consumers when you say that the sequel will be ready later this year, but mum on support for the current version. So maybe they don't have to turn out tracks like RB/GH, but at least throw consumers a bone who paid the $99+ for the original game and peripheral by saying "New DLC in developement", perhaps on a cycle of 1 track pack a month.

God they just seem to pump these games out...
Why don't they just release like 50 of them at once.

I really hope they make the DJ easier to understand. I played the demo in a store for five minutes straight on easy and hit maybe three notes correctly.

Ugh, just use the money to make another Guitar Hero or something; I agree with Yahtzee, DJ Hero is stagnating the rythem (or however you spell it) games.

Why waste money? I dont know a singer person who even bought the first one
because singers prefer microphones not DJ equipment [small]sorry[/small]

Seriosuly though activision seem to be just cashing in now. The guitar hero games are becoming boring and band hero was just pointless, another DJ Hero might destroy activision.

They must REALLY like losing money and dragging the rest of the industry down with them...
Down to the bottom it would appear...

Ah well, at least those who did buy it will have some other use for the plastic contraptions other than letting them sit and collect dust...

I would like to see what gameplay innovations they could bring to the table. Would be kinda hard considering how limited the controller is, though.

Also, every song is Daft Punk, etc.

How can it be cashing in if it's a gamble that could "destroy" the company? The two are opposites.

I got it and I love it. I know there are those put off by the mechanics of it (it's definitely more of a multi-tasking kind of game compared to GH) and not everyone who likes GH songs will like these, but I have fun playing just about every song on the game. Considering the money I spent, I'm glad to hear that they're going ahead with another game. It's a shame that more people aren't on board because the game and controller are really slick.

I don't understand the point of this. The first game didn't sell well, the second probably isn't going to do any better. Not to mention that DJ Hero doesn't appeal to anywhere near as many people as Rock Band or Guitar Hero does.

Good point. I'm obviously an idiot.
I meant that theyre just churning out sequels from their cash cows but the udders are running dry.

How can they possibly afford to do this?

(Shortly after processing this thought it occurred to me that they are one of the richest companies in the world. Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, World of Warcraft... It saddens me to think that not only is the videogames industry is saturating, but companies can afford to do it.)

If Activision likes wasting time and money so much they can mail me a cheque and send their employees to paint my house.
