So I don't pay too much attention to League anymore; but when I saw my old favorite Champion, Sona, was getting the new Ultimate Skin I had to pay attention. Yep, Sona, Maven of the Strings is getting the next ultimate skin.

DJ Sona looks amazing. She comes with all-new particles, effects and sounds. In addition, she can play one of three songs during the game (Kinetic is featured in the video above); and ANYONE in the game with you can choose to tune in the song Sona is playing and listen too.

In addition, changing the song Sona is playing will change her appearance, her sound effects and the particles for her abilities and attacks.

Of the three Ultimate Skins (Pulsefire Ezreal, Spirit Guard Udyr and now DJ Sona) this has definitely the best.

isn't just the awesome skin. Its that the skin is also giving some fanservice love to Sona fans, and butting another champion out of the spotlight.

For some time, Sona has held the title of "Best Boobs in League" for having the biggest and best boobs in the game. The other title "Best Ass", was held by Irelia, due to her Frostblade ("FrostAss" Irelia Skin).

Well, now DJ Sona has claimed that title. Now in addition to having the best boobs in League, Sona has the best booty too. DJ Sona's dance is the Carmella Dansen Dance...and the booty is glorious.


Mmmhmm.

see i like the skin and all, but LoL really screwed this up. they specifically made the arcade sona skin worse so people had more of a reason to buy DJ sona. that's really screwed up. all of my friends want this skin, but got burned on the arcade skin and so will no longer buy LoL skins. you should consider doing the same.

Arcade Sona is also a Legendary-tier skin, not an Ultimate Tier skin, matching the other Arcade Skins - Arcade Hecarim, Arcade Miss Fortune and Final Boss Veigar. It's still a worthy Legendary Skin; it would make no sense for it to be Ultimate Tier.

yes but 3 patches ago the skin was made worse, they even had this big thing about people wanting a refund. then the following month we learned about the DJ sona on surrender at 20. the skin was made to be worse than it was on realse followed by an ultimate skin announcement. fishy right?

Oh goodie another awful lol skin for the 12 year old boys that make up the game's main demographic. (seriously why do nearly all the female champions splash arts have to contort them to show their boob and bums at the same time?)
Seriously, the actual ingame model in that video the op linked looks so flat with blurry textures, not worthy of a near $30 skin in my eyes.
One of the things that turned me off this game was the juvenile, butchered and incredibly tacky art style. How the hell does a cyber Dj in anyway belong in a fantasy game.

Also that music is really boring

Sona just got a texture update, like many Champions did. There was nothing malicious about it; its still comparable to all the other Arcade Skins. Arcade Sona was also nowhere near the level of DJ Sona to start with.

LOL Sona get a texture update, but that's nothing new. They're doing a texture update for a group of champions every patch they release. Arcade Sona still looks fine, she just got some higher quality textures. Arcade Sona is an ultimate skin, which means it will of course end up looking better then Arcade Sona (Which is a regular skin).

Another thing you need to note is that most people who play League of Legends are typically in college actually. Also Riot has gotten a lot better with female characters and models, yes a large majority of them are super sexy, but the more recent female champions are defying that norm (Just look at Rek-Sai).

Also yes you are an outsider, because Riot has really great business practices. Riot has one the best business practices of free to play games there are. Even among the more traditional Multiplayer Online Games (Such as MMO's) Riot shines as an example of how to do things right. Not to mention that they've been near single handily been pushing video games to be accepted as a form of sport and have been an absolute boon for the game industry in terms of making huge strides into the realm of professional gaming.

If you want to call me a fanboy, go ahead. I'm just stating my views on Riot and on the situation with Arcade Sona and DJ Sona.

I love the new skin, just not $30 of love. If I ever win one of Riot's art contests, it will be the first thing I buy.

Day one buy and I already have Pentakill and Arcade Sona. After the texture update though, base Sona looks really good. Possibly better than Arcade, the way they re-textured and tuned the different shades of blue in her hair is cool. The selling point is the fact that they don't allow mirror DJ Sonas because knowing Riot's shit as fuck game code, EU West would just blow up. I cannot play mirrors to save my life for some reason.

I have all the Ultimate skins too, I love Ezreal but right now the Pulsefire skin is clunky and just doesn't feel as smooth as every other Ezreal skin. That might be intentional but it doesn't feel like the Ezreal I know and love. I have Pulsefire, Debonaire, Nottingham and TPA Ezreal and i've only played TPA once because the foam finger glove throws off my aim. The splash art on Debonaire is great, I like it when two skins share the same splash. He's destroying Debonaire Vi at poker. Which is the only thing Ezreal could hope to destroy Vi at...

I got the Ultimate Udyr skin because everyone goes through a "i'm going to main jungle Udyr and get to Plat, Trick2g told me so" phase.

The ass is an awfully odd thing to be excited about, but the skin does look awesome. 20-30 bucks is a big hit to the pocket though. Maybe if this skin came out before Sona got hit with the rework (a nerf in every way in my opinion), I might've bought it since I mained her.

Is this when they supposedly "specifically made the arcade sona skin worse"? Cause of it is, I don't think I can really agree with what you're saying in your post. Assuming malice of that extent would be more that a bit of a stretch for me, especially when it was part of the texture 'modernizations' that the older champion-models go through every once in a while. It's almost like the super-cynical people who say that League always releases OP champs so people buy them with RP but conveniently forget the champs that needed to be buffed right after release.

I like Sona. I own two Sona skins. But I really, really, don't like this skin. It might be because I don't like EDM, it might be because I don't care very much for Riot's obsession with stupid headpieces (like the one Sona has here). It might even be because I haven't seen an ultimate skin for a champion I really like (Diana and Draven both come to mind).

But this doesn't do it for me. It's vexing to not see any skins for champions I like.

DJ Sona has been in the works for a while; she was suggested a LOOOONG time ago, is a fan-favorite champion and giving a Support the Ultimate Skin since we have an ADC Ult. skin is nice.

Now we just need a Mid and a Top Ult. skin and we can have Team Moneybags.
