Hello everybody!

This weekend i'm hosting my first ever RP session with some friends of mine. It's gonna be my first ever DM session so i chose a Call of Cthulhu session. Less combat, more pants crapping horror. I needed dice. So after finding a small store who sold them, i found a large selection of dice. I just picked some random dice (D6, D4, D8, percentile D10 and a D20) and left. This got me thinking.

Do you guys play RPG's with standard dice? Or special homemade ash-infused dice? Or nuked dice? Glow in the dark dice? Oiled? (ok maybe not that last one..)

While you're at it, do you have any starting tips for Call of Cthulhu? I could use some.

This really isn't the best forum for this, you'd probably have more luck if you got a moderator to move it to Off-topic.

OT: Unfortunately I don't play tabletop RP games so I can't help you I'm afraid :(

Assuming the mods don't crack down on this thread, I'll answer what I can.

Dice: I mostly use the basic RP dice sets (d20, d12, 2d10 for a d100, d8, d6, and d4), but I have two special d20. 1 glows red whenever a 20 is rolled so the critical hits are much more dramatic. The other is a d20 with 1s on every side for when I want to fail checks (this dice was made in my schools 3d printer and was inspired by a joke from a webcomic)

Call of Cthulhu: just remember that the monsters in any lovecraft game don't exist to be defeated but are effectively unstoppable and to use the atmosphere to your advantage and it should be fine.

Edit: I can't recall what dice CoC uses... D6s maybe? There are too many Cthulhu themed games
