I have to correct you on that last comment, it's a prequel to DMC2. That theory was mentioned back when they were calling it an alternate universe.
I know I know, but that's not what I meant to imply, my fault for not explaining.
Think about DMC1, then DMC2 and 3.
2 seems like they tried to do something different with the game, and everything about it seems to be directed in a fashion unfamiliar to DMC. Even how Dante handles in relation to DMC1.
3 however, most definitely feels like they went back to basics and decided to leap upwards from it. The familiar gameplay from 1 was improved and refined, and we got something that truly feels like a proper sequel. 4 follows this by further refining the gameplay and introducing more innovations to this formula.
1, 3, and 4 are quite consistent with each other. 2 sticks out like a sore thumb.
And I meant to imply, that the new DmC, with all it's unfamiliarities and oddities from the rest of the series; The lack of styles. The dedicated dodge button(or two in this case). The stiff 4-swing sword combos. Double jumping as a standard... It reminds me so much of DMC2.
So Ninja Theory, whether they intended or not, made their DMC game alot like the worst DMC game in the series. Rather than any of the really good ones.
And yet I'd probably still want to play 2 over this one. At least Dante
was cool and looked cool there.
