So, just a few more hours of work, go home, grab something to eat (I'm thinking a nice pasta) and then off to a friends' house for our first session of DnD 5.

Last week we made our characters. Well, they did, I'm the DM. And besides a few minor options everyone is ready to go. Our group has played DnD 4 for almost 4 years now.

I'm actually very excited, the whole session is home-made and while it's just a simple dungeon run with a inn meeting before it, I'm curious how I, and my group, like the new rules.

So, have any of you guys played the newest version already?
What did you think of it, what did you like, dislike?

Any especially awesome house-rules you feel like sharing?

as far as i know its a improvment from 4e, i have not played DnD for a long time now (WoD master race) but i think that /tg/ from 4chan are still talking about it

I started on 4e and really enjoyed it. Bit disappointed to see that the Warlord hasn't made an appearance in 5 so far, although I'd love to have a go with some of the new fighter stuff! Or maybe this is finally the time that I stop being super dubious about alignment and go full on Paladin. It's probably not going to be quite as fun as the time I played some homebrew rules with a character best described as a cross between Death from Darksiders and Alucard from Hellsing, but could still be pretty cool.

Might be nice to know that Paladins no longer have any official Allignment rules anymore.
And another point I really liked is that the Paladin now has part of the Avenger class from 4e in it.
