Absolutely not.
We just like to poke fun at them. Canadians are just one of those things that are inherently funny and no one really knows why anymore.
But Canada is pretty cool.

Do Canadians hate Americans? I think the jokes are just jokes. I'm American and I don't hate Canadians. I view them as sort of like a cousin country to ours, being just north over the border.

Friendly ribbing.

Also, it's actually "Canadaland." It's just shortened to Canada for printing purposes.

And honestly, I was grifted by the most polite and articulate vagrant in Toronto. Top notch criminals up north.

I've noticed that Americans tend to stereotype us alot, though we do it and equal amount to them. Mostly Canadians don't mind because most of the stereotypes are true...I say "eh" in almost every sentence, occasionally pronounce about as aboot and I like maple syrup and beer...I've also hunted, cut down a tree in a plaid shirt and ridden on a sled so therefore I am the canadian stereotype (minus an igloor and a polar bear).

That's more over in Quebec with the French Canadians.
I'm from Quebec and let me tell you, EVERYONE hates French Canadians for the most part, EVERYONE. Other Canadians, other Quebecers, even other french people. See there seems to be a small line between two groups of french canadians. French Canadians who are trying to be English and French Seperatists (or at least this is what I've observed living in Montreal, I could be wrong and there could be very normal francophone canadians but I've never met any).
Well Quebec is a special part of Canada, I dont know why French Canadians think their hated most people I know dont mind them though as an Ontarian I have been told to claim to be from manitoba if I ever travel the country

Oh, why is it that there are 2 whole continents of America but only the USA gets the title of America?
That has always bugged me...
*sigh* Okay this always irritates me. I've heard a few people even use this to criticize our collective intelligence by a claiming that we're somehow ignorant that we are on the continent of North America. Yes, I'm American, so say what you want about me, but I'll make it very simple: My country is known in short as America because we are the only nation in both North and South America, with the word "America" in our name. It's just the way it turned out. People from Canada call themselves Canadian, people form Mexico are Mexican, People from Brazil are Brazilian, ect. What would you prefer we call ourselves? United Statesians? That sounds ridiculous. It'd be just as silly as asking someone from England or Scotland to call themselves United Kingdomians. We just happen to have the partial name of the continent in our country's name and American makes the most sense in regards for a term of nationality. I could even go into the historical reason for the name of my country but that's too much typing and off topic.

OT: No, I don't hate Canada, why would I? That doesn't make much sense. Now, I have met some very vocal Canadians who spew absolute hatred towards the U.S., but I'm sure I could find their counterparts here if I searched. Hell I'm conservative leaning in my political views and I harbor no ill will towards Canada; most conservatives actually don't. A few obnoxious load-mouths don't speak for everyone, but then again, this is usually the case in any scenario.

ADD ON: This was pretty funny, and right here on this very website. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/critical-miss/8513-Critical-Miss-Y-Ddraig-Cach]

But 90% percent of Canadians hate America. I'm not kidding either. Americans: Don't like Canada because Canada does NOT like you. They think you are all idiot, illiterate pigs that always make fun of us.
They're jokes, just like saying all Canadians drink maple syrup and say aboot, etc. etc... Do you seriously think that? That's retarded.

Edit: Also marijuana is basically legal here. So good times for all. Plus universal care, decent economy, nice people, and all that.

It definitely isn't all Americans, but every now and then, you get a little gem like this:

Our troops are better trained so meh. Also our Mounties have submachine guns standard issue and can legally track down suspects in any country in the world.

Also those people are ridiculously stupid and poorly informed.

I've never heard about any hate towards Canadians. As for their portrayal in the media, have you seen how America media treats anyone not from the US?

I think a lot of the perceived angst from both sides comes from the whole uncanny valley situation we have with you. You are so much like us culturally, yet you are so different.
OT: I am American and Canadians never even cross my mind. Do I hate you? No, and I don't understand how anyone could hate a culture so like their own.

I dunno about them, but I love Canadians and Canada. I kinda wish we had some of the amenities and luxuries that Canada gets.

I got no problem at all with those from Canadia.

Half the time I forget that not everybody in North America is from the United States.

Wow far from hate I'd say. Practically everyone I know wishes to go over there to work and live (and I can gladly say a good majority of these people don't want to take advantage of your lax marijuana laws).

Canada doesn't have anything for us TO hate that much. So happens I like alot of the acting talent that comes from Canada, especially those on the humor line-up.
Yea, I don't get it either, I always liked canada, but I have noticed a lot of cartoons making fun of canadians... the only thing I don't like about canada is it's singers...

I wouldn't say most of it is discrimination/hate but joking. Except sometimes Americans blame certain celebrity Canadian immigrant's heritage for to explain why they are disliked. Or at least point it out like it's supposed to. Which is wrong. The rest of the time, it's just us Americans ribbing our younger Northern brother. I've noticed much more ire towards our Southern neighbor.

I have noticed over time that americans seem to dislike canadians esspecially in there industry. Also in there media canadians are either very stereotyped and ussually portayed very negativly despite us essentially sharing the same culture. I have even heard various stories from fellow canadians who have been to the states for college or work and have activly experianced prejudice in various levels some to the point they even had to leave. Now I am not saying all americans are prejudice or anything of that nature but its more of a question of whether it is uncommon or not to have american people activly disliking anything canadian or anyone canadian taking part in there society?

How could America hate our hat?
I mean, I guess I get the joke, but I don't see what's funny aboot it. Yes, on a typical map, Canada is displayed north of the US. Maybe if I was to follow this logic, I could say that Canada is the "brain" of North America, while the US thinks with its stomach and Mexico thinks with its crotch?
Yeah its just the joke. I personally have no issue with Canada. Every country has advantages and every one has disadvantages. I have no problem joking about any country. Canada is America's hat. Mexico is America's condom. And England is America's disapproving but drunk (because of the riots :p) parent.

I don't hate Canadians, I only hate Justin Bieber. And according to one of my Canadian friends, you folks feel the same way about him.

Honestly though, I love syrup, and hockey is the only team sport that I enjoy watching :)

Only during Hockey season, and only Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Winnipeg fans (Boston fans too, but that is not in Canada). Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, are not in Buffalo's conference.

Here in Buffalo its really only during the Hockey season, and that is because three of the teams share a division and Winnipeg is just in our conference. Its most of the time its friendly jabs at each other. It probably helps its a twenty minute drive to Canada.
