Do any of you ever avoid a thing because of the ads for it?

Oh, man. The Samsung Infuse. If I were in the market for a cell phone.. and actually, when I *was* in the market for a cell phone about 4 months ago.. I would consider ANYthing but that. The commercial was compressed in such a way that it was about 5x louder than the channel I was watching it on and they played it about every other commercial break for a month or so and I can't tell you how many times I nearly had a heart attack because I'd gone off to the kitchen or bathroom or dozed a little and heard that ***** squealing.

Commercials that make me look dumb in some way.

There is a commercial for beer which goes like "Real men know to set their priorities" and those 3 morons try to put out a fire on a grill. The problem is that behind the grill, the as much water as they want, over 50 beer, while they have no other meat than that on the grill.
Same beer, "Real men are superstitious" and the 4 morons are afraid to go out of a store because there is a cat on the road. They have several other "Real men..."

It's like they are trying to make men as dumb as possible. I don't get how can anyone watch that commercial and buy the product later. Even if I loved that product more than anything else, I wouldn't buy it. It's offensive. They are basically telling me that I'm an idiot so I should buy it. And they basically say that if you don't like their beer, you're not a real men. Really? Then can you explain what that thing between my legs is?

There are several other product, but I wouldn't have bought them in the first place. The commercials just killed the little curiosity I had.

Adverts usually make me avoid the product. I assume they must work on some people though, i look at game adverts, so it must just be that the adverts never target me.

I understand that, but I just made a very lengthy post, not a "hurr hurr you shouldn't enjoy call of duty" post.

I don't have a sense of humor. Which means I laugh at anything even if it's not remotely funny. Except Annoying Orange. That is so horrible it can't even make me grin.

I felt disgusted by the ad, but hey - I'm not their target audience.

But they tried to make a comedy sketch that was even worse than Annoying Orange. They don't have puns, sexual innuendo, no situational comedy, or funny names for body parts.

They just shown something that didn't even praise their product. A game rated Mature and everyone who jumps in is a totally immature clown?

By the way, it insulted anyone in the military. Basically that was a huge buzzkiller.

I have not bought Dead Space 2 due to their "Your Mom hates this game" commercial. If it's aimed at adults, that's just stupid that you think my mother is influencing what video games I'm buying. If it's aimed at kids, that's just wrong due to it being a M rated game. No matter which way you go with it, stupidity rules.

I dislike the image and stereotypes associated with 'Axe' products, so I make a point not to purchase them. The same would be true with what is probably hundreds of products/t.v shows and movies.

This is not to say that I'd specifically boycott these things. If it was the only convenient and affordable option of the given product, than I'd buy it rather than deliberately place a burden on my life to work around it.

Those trident gum commercials. "Nobody pays me in gum". Oh, how fucking sad. They just pay you in money, money which you could probably spend on a handtruck of the damn stuff if you wanted. I may like orange crush, but I want to be payed in money, thank you.

And then there's this ad that was JUST on about a minute ago. The M&Ms brown shell ad where a guy keeps laughing because he thinks this female M&M with a brown shell is naked, and it ends with the red M&M taking off his shell and dancing. It's not annoying, but it's bad.

Doctor pepper 10. This is one of those commercials that plays all of it's prejudices completely straight while pretending to be ironic, but failing and making as insulting as it's pretending to be. It basically tries to say that the only things men like in movies are jungle combat scenes with vehicle chases. It insults the crap out of our intelligence, which is why I have no problem declaring that doctor pepper 10 is not my soda.

Yeah... ads for most things annoy the shit out of me, so most of the time i'll mute ads and do my best to not take anything in from them... and if an ad does manage to get through to me and it annoys me i'll do my best to not buy the product.

"I just sold my car! Quick, quick!" I'm going to shove his car up his ARSE. I also dislike the woman who says "trouble-free! Hee hee!" She looks so smug I want to punch her. I will never, ever sell a car to them.

After all the adverts for it, I'll never be claiming for PPI off ANY of the companies who do the adverts. They're unbelievably irritating. I'm going to find a small, reputable company who has never used TV advertising if I ever have to claim any back.

Neither will I buy a camera/smartphone that's supposedly all about "independence" or "pretty faces" when you keep ramming the advert down my throat. I don't even remember what the phone one is for, possibly Android, but it literally is everywhere and its reinforcing my belief that they are a waste of money; 99% of their features I will never likely use!

For everything else, there's the internet.

I rarely watch broadcast television anymore. Not even the BBC, which has no adverts. But I generally hate most broadcast adverts with a passion, they're manipulation pure and simple, and I don't trust anything they say.
