Do any of you LaRP?

If you're ever on vacation in Scandinavia (dunno about Finland though) you should try to make it coincide with a LAPR here, it's a very different form of playing, and could make for an interesting experience.

Personally I can't afford to at the moment, no regular income kinda does that, but I do still consider myself a LARPer. No system. There is a mind's eye theater group around, but they're pretty much the only one that uses one.

I've been going to a few Live-action Roleplay (LRP) events this year, getting into the hobby with my friends who have been going longer than me.

I was curious if anyone one on here also took part in a LRP system? What system do you play? And what is your character?

I play Lorien Trust, in England, and I am a human healer with some incantation power. Quite magicky. : )

I tried it a few times, it was more like acting than anything else! I think you if could get a drama group involved you would have so much fun!

No. Most LARPers I've met are creepy and more than a little deranged.

It's a shame that these people have made a lasting impression on you like that. A lot of the people I have interacted with out of character are quite normal, with a few who are just keen.

Sadly I do not. Not only do I now know of such events in the area, I lack friends to play with.

It all looks like good fun, provided it doesn't take itself tóó seriously.

If you did find a system in your area, you don't necessarily need friends to go with. Once you get there, you tend to find people are quite willing to help you out. I've met a couple good people myself through LRP.

The only thing I've done otherwise, that's even close to LaRPing, is my university Assassin's Guild. I tried to join this year but sadly it was a little bit late for my to get involved, but when the next semester starts I might just join up with them. I already love stuff like Laser Quest, and I'm naturally paranoid and have an innate talent for stealth, and I enjoy acting... should be a good laugh overall .

This summer I had my first LaRPing experience, it was a weeks long historical(in 1113 if I remember correctly) with no foam weapons allowed. I was working at the tavern they had, which made it free for me. The mood in there at nights was fukkin awesome.

LARP/LRP/Freeform is cool. I've been to a number of events (including Space Marines, Cyberpunk and 1800's Cthulu).

If you can get to one of the big conventions, there's almost always one going on; and they're amazing fun.

Dont have any of that, atleast as far as I know, here in Pennsylvania. But even if there was, I would join or anything. But it would be interesting to watch.
