It keeps only a few kid's out of trouble. The ones who wernt likely going to get into trouble in the first place. They probably would negotiate with their parents for a reasonable curfew for their age/maturity etc. However the curfews where they probably will be used wont work because of the kids who believe they can do whatever they want. Thats why reality gives them a good smack across the face in adolencance or they die.

I will see you in hell! Oh wait, I won't, because short people aren't allowed in hell. You'll have to settle for baby-hell where all the naughty kids are.

I'm gonna say maybe. I'm not the type that goes out at night with friends but the one time I was, a pumpkin was smashed and doors were knocked on.

No, we all get into more trouble because then we're breaking curfews ^_^

I'd probably be worse if there was a curfew. Like, sneak out for the sole purpose of destroying shit.

If only it were that simple. However, as most people have already said, they can cause just as much trouble in daylight hours or, if they want to, just sneak out and raise hell. Admittedly, if you get caught, it's a whole 'nother ball game. Especially if your parents would take your "privileges" away, like TV, internet, video games, dolls, etc.

That being said, I never really had a curfew. Aside from "come inside the yard and play there once the street lights come on," I never really needed one. I was an inside person. Besides, I was too scared of being kidnapped to want to go out alone after sunset.

Detail? You want detail? Now? At this hour? Alright...

Do I think curfews keep teens out of trouble? *Snerk* No. If you were ever a teen - and gee, I hope nobody here says they weren't - then you know the rebelious youth factor. Nobody wants to be told to do things, certainly not at that age or - in fact - any other. Besides, I know for a fact that skipping the rules in favor of sneaking around in secret is FUN. It's not a matter of peer-pressuring "Everybody's doing it." kind of thing. It's just what people DO. They don't think others know better, so they take it all upon themselves.

Nope, Probably depends on the teen, Some would just break the curfew cause it's forbidden.
Cause most teens are weird, confused and horny beings.
If you'd legalize weed, (see NL) it wouldnt considered something "cool" among kids.
People do weed cuz its fun, not as a symbol of rebellion. thats what spraypaint and mowhawks are for...
Well there are enough kids that have the ILLUSSION that it is, Not saying they are right, Do Crack instead :D

Unless you tag them also then no i do not think they work. Most parents do not bother to keep an eye on their teens and let them run wild. Some parents wouldn't even notice if the clock chimed 10pm (usual curfew time for over 16s) but their teen was busy setting fire to a neighbour's car outside the house.

Responsible parenting is more the question, I never had a curfew as such, but my parents liked to know where I was and how they could contact me etc. Plus been on the streets after dark where I lived was just asking for trouble. Knowing is half the battle. On the other hand I knew a guy who had a curfew and he was one of the most prolific vandals and thieves I have ever known, Also a fire bug *shudder*

Unless they have NO money, NO car, NO freedom whatsoever, they wont bother escaping. I'm living proof since if I did I'd be on the streets, though the way things are going at 19 now its looking like a better option.

Nothing will keep anyone out of trouble if you don't/can't enforce it.

Proper parenting would fix most problems with teens.
