Overhyped games like those get a large amount of hate due to high expectations. Rarly does a product meet the hype it makes. Maybe you just do what I do and you don't get hyped up over anything. It would explain why you enjoy what others hate.

You don't like bad games. Everyone has their preferences, and we all look for different things. My friend, for example, hates Fable 2 pretty much entirely because it doesn't have a
final boss battle
, and because it isn't difficult, yet I can see that the strongest points of the first game are even stronger in the sequel.
Well techniqly its either you take on a man who dies no matter what you do, or the giant killer triangle. (I know this sounds sarcastic but I think the triangle thing is meant to be as it has a super damaging attack.)

BTW what is that triangle thing's name?

I don't know the details of the game's ending. All I know is that he was complaining because it doesn't have a "real boss fight" or something like that. Just relaying what I've heard. Either way, the example's valid. Also, I guess spoiler tags are out the window now. :B

Don't worry I'm a Dynasty/Samurai/Orichi Warriors fan. I get this feeling EVERY time a new one comes out...
Ha, me too. The best thing about reading Dynasty Warriors reviews is trying to figure out whether the reviewer actually bothered playing the game, or whether the write-up is just a copy & paste of the one they published last year.
Too true my friend, too true...

One question to yall folks back at home though--
am I the only person left on the Internet that doesn't read any reviews at all?
I don't read reviews too. I only watch Yahtzee's videos which I don't take seriously. He said Mirrors Edge is a bad game I like it, he said GTA IV is a good game I hate it.

Also, why do you care of what other people say about the games you like?
If you're having fun then it shouldn't matter now should it?

Personally I wouldn't entitle any of those as the 'best games I've played' but that's just me. You might have different tastes.

I have a retarded neighbour that if he happens to read a bad review about a game which he already bought and loved, he actually starts to hate it. I shit you not ladies and gentlemen.
You're not alone man. I never read reviews for games before buying them. I'll read preview articles before the game is released and such, but mostly base my game purchases off of that and gut feeling. It hasn't really failed me yet.

I do have a habit of reading reviews for games I already own after I've been playing them for a bit, to get a feel for what the "critics" thought of it. This generally confirms my idea that reading the reviews beforehand is a bad idea.

The reason most of these games are unpopular: Very simple. It's not cool to like things anymore.

Two genres I love.

And then people ask why I enjoy Senko no Ronde so much. I just want a sequel of that.

Fable 2, Mirrors edge, Spider Man: Web of Shadows, the new Prince of Persia and The Force unleashed are some of the best games I've played this year. These games, while getting 80% and above on reveiw averaging sights are seen as generally bad games and dissapointments. Why is this? Am I just attracted to bad ganes? Do any of you feel like you like you enjoy generally disliked games? I don't just mean underappriciated ones, I mean, you look at a reveiw and you say: "aww man, I was really looking forward to this, and it sucks." then you play it and its really good and you wonder whats wrong with everybody. I never feel bad for myself, really just for other people for over analyzing things and not enjoying themselves. Or is it just an over-abundance of cynicism in todays society?
Except for the spiderman game and PoP, I'm getting all of those. Although Sonic Unleashed is the big one for me. And don't even bother saying "Oh well Sonic Unleashed is bad because teh werehog isnt sonik an de gam e waned 2 b fasder iz 2 fastz!", as I won't read it or respond to it. Oh, and

"Some folks like outstanding graphics, some like super fast-paced gameplay, others like games that are intellectually stimulating." Sonic Unleashed has it all and every critic except for the ones I generally don't hear about much except for at metacritic for sonic games bashes it, even though it's just short of a miracle that such a technical feat is even possible! Ugh...just don't use one reviewer. Use at least 5 of them, and still avoid them for 1.Anything new, and 2.Sonic games. Demos are okay, although I have been tricked by them, so gameplay footage, talking to people who have beaten it, and if you still can't decide, rent it. Or wait til the price goes down and just buy it anyways.

AKA reviews are crap.

P.S. Or use Christmas as a way to get a game you're unsure of.

The extent of my review reading is Zero Punctuation. Otherwise I listen to what people say, and then evaluate the game on my own. I may have assumptions based on previous games of a series, but that's about it.

Ill give you web of shadows(minus the horrible voice acting), the force unleashed was alright, have not played mirrors edge, prince of persia was absolute trash, fable 2 was nearly the same as fable 1, the force unleashed was alright, but i returned it and got full money back in store credit, which i used to buy fable 2(big mistake).

I actually read reviews after I have played the game, usually.. but I do that so I can nod with the reviewer "yep, yep! so true!" and shake my head in disbelief "oh no man, that part was awesome. how could you say it was bad?" .. etc.

I'm weird.
