I'm of the opinion that a large majority of the human population is kind of stupid. The problem with America is that they have a lot of people, so their majority is much larger than other countries majority, making the stupidity of the world far more obvious in their country.

Collectively, yes. And the fact that you let the crazy, ignorant and obnoxious be the loudest voices of your country does the sane among you no credit.

The problem is, Americans come across as culturally ignorant. I've never left Europe, so the only Americans I've come across have been loud arrogant tourists; exactly like the stereotype. Naturally, I don't think all Americans are like that, but it's easy to see how other people would.

But more on the serious side, Americans believe all the English are Snotty, All The French Are Cowards, All Italians are in gangs
These barely have any grounding anyway though

83.3% of Americans are of average or lower intelligence.

Of course, 83.3% of any group are of average or lower quality in the trait of your choice.

That's just how bell curves work.

It's symmetric, too: 83.3% of Americans are of average or higher intelligence!

Isn't statistics neato?

Its just a stero-type, granted not the best to have, but thats all it is. At least its better than Scotland's 'they're all alcoholics and ginger' ¬¬

I've been on here long enough to know that not all Americans are stupid. A lot? Maybe yeah.

I don't really care. Though I was once on holiday in Canada and we were talking to this American couple on a bus going somewhere (I forget). Now I speak with a very distinctive English accent (with a northern twinge, for those who know what that is), yet I was asked if I was Irish. Irish. You know, that accent that couldn't be more unique if it tried. I had to suppress a lot in order to just say, "no, England". How do you mix Irish and English? Seriously? It's like mixing Italian and French, ridiculous.

Good grief......

Stupidity is not american, it's international. The whole world has it's fair share of uneducated, gullible, brainless, grossly misinformed and misguided people. Does the USA have more of them? Perhaps population wise you outnumber a few countries, but i believe the percentage is reasonably equal across the board.

It's a stereotype just like any other you would encounter in your day-to-day life. That doesn't make it right, of course, but it's no different than saying, for example, the British have horrible teeth. It may be true in some cases, and in fact, may be true for the majority of people, but I don't think anyone TRULY believes all Americans are fat and stupid.

individualy? no, i don't think all americans are dumb.
as a group however you have the tendancy to showcase the worst in humanity slightly more than most other large groups of people.
also the group mentality that americans have of being the greatest nation on earth doesn't help. (because you're not.)

mostly though it's not the fault of the general public seeing as how you're lied to in school.

if you rely on stereotypes to generalize an entire group of people, then you are actually the one who is stupid.

Stupidity is widespread. It's certainly not limited to one country. We're all stupid at one time or another.

I must say, seeing as we probably have the biggest population for a first world country, we definitely have a bigger chance of having much more stupid people. As opposed to places like the UK who only have a total land area of (according to wikipedia)243,610 km2 vs America, which has a total area of 9,826,675 km2 (nearly 40 time bigger).

I don't think the hate is undeserved, though. But I mean do you guys really think yourself so high and mighty that you don't succumb to stereotypes?

(This is an example, bear with me. It will all make sense in the end)

Hey england, what's with you guys and your incredible hatred of the letter H? Can't you freaking start a word without dropping the H? I mean, half the people of your country can't even say Harry Potter, your national hero. Who's Arry Potter? I've never heard of him. And why do you replace "TH's" with "F's"? You guys can barely speak your own language, it's ridiculous. And nice dental plan you have there. Do you guys just have trouble sipping tea through straight, white teeth?

see? I know for a fact that not everyone speaks in a cockney accent, or has bad teeth. But when I present the stereotype like that, it sounds incredibly douchey.

I promise you that Americans would not make fun of the English if they did the same in return. Pinky promise.
