By this I mean have other peoples opionions affect oyur veiw on somthing and/or how much you enjoy it?

I do tend to get this somtimes

Like I havnt played DA2 (Im saving up) although Ive pretty mcuh avoided all discussion and articles about the game I still have this nagging feeling even though I think Ill probably like it, unlike ME2 where I played that straight after the original without any background knowelge anyway Im ignoring that because Im not letting a bunch of haters ruin the game for me

EDIT: Its not my intention to make this a DA2 thread because god knows weave had enough of those

Nope, I ignore, and stay away from, reviews and opinions of anything I'm interested in. Honestly, the only things I care about when looking into a new game are demos and game play footage (cut scenes and cinematics DO NOT COUNT).

Yes. Normally people criticising something I enjoyed lets me view it in a new, objective way, and my appreciation for it decreases.

Which is both a blessing and a curse.

For example: Kingdom Hearts 2. I loved that game when I played it, but people on the internet shoved down my throat how the majority of villains are unnecessary, the story is rushed, spaced out with unnecessary Disney filler which has little incorporation into the main plot. And I couldn't help but agree.

Smartism... Prethoughtism. Intelegentism. Makesensism. Factism. Personism.

I don't know, can't we just say we are... Sane?

Atheism was one for me. I don't believe in a god, but I'm actually kind of ashamed to call myself an atheist because I gradually discovered that the vast majority of atheists are easily as biased, closed minded and aggressive as the religions they oppose.

Can I join you in whateverism?

OP, whenever someone gives something away like a spoiler. I like to find things out for myself. If I wanted someone to tell me something, I will ask.

They can, if I let them. I try not to.

Unfortunately, that can require effort. Especially recommendations; I'm actually immune to indirect hype, but for some reason, people pushing things on me just gets my goat. I despair of ever convincing my friend that all he's doing is making me never, ever, ever want to watch Boondock Saints.

I think "nonreligious" usually works, as well. Personally, I'm philosophically agnostic, so I just go with that.

Ugh, I have that same problem. I'm actually more worried about telling people I'm an Atheist because I don't want them to think I'm some kind of snobby douche, more than I'm worried they'll think I'm some kind of amoral heathen...

...I think that's sort of the problem being brought up here...Unless you were being ironic or sarcastic...We really need a font for those.

How about you join my Gandaulf Church where we learn from the teachings of Gandaulf.
I love saying I am a Gandaulfist to people who believe in a religion because whatever they say, I can say back. Ex: Asshole: "GANDAULF IS JUST FROM A MADE UP BOOK" ME: "WELL JESUS IS JUST FROM A MADE UP BOOK" so fun

Mostly when something is overhyped.

For example, all my friends kept telling me how funny Anchorman was, so when I finally saw it, I was expecting the pinnacle of hilarity.

It was OK, but I've seen better, and I'm pretty sure I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't constantly hearing about how great it was.

There's a friend of mine who often hypes up games to the extreme. Because of that, whenever I play whatever game he was hyping, I usually find it to be average or just plain bland.

Sometimes. There are times that the hype around a game makes me dislike it more, there are times when it makes me like it more. When it happens, it usually does not follow any sort of logical pattern.

I think of it more like Not-blindly-putting-your-faith-in-anything-ism. Saying that there are two (or more) possibilities isn't necessarily indecisive, just logical.

Although I have to say I do fit nicely into Whateverism.

1) The bible is not a book, it's a collection of books.
2) Jesus, whatever you beileved he was an actual god, did exist. You see, the Romans kepts records of a jesus that was cruxified on "a hill of skulls."

Once you realize no one else's opinion really matters when it comes to liking or disliking something nothing gets ruined for you by other people. I very rarely rely on public opinion or review opinions of games to pass judgment on them. I read them and watch them and take that with the source material and formulate my own judgment. Most of the time I don't pay attention to what a reviewer is saying but just glean the information I need from watching the game-play they are talking about. When it comes to written opinions the easiest way is to assume the middle ground on both of the extremes of opinions. "The game was way too hard" "The game was way too easy" tell me that there are difficult and easy moments in the game or that it sits somewhere in the middle and that the player skill is the deciding factor here.

It also helps reading more into opinions than "I thought this was awesome" or "I thought this was crap" look for the proof of it.

1. Not you, but other people do care.
2. What point? If there was a point It just prove my theory on Atheists as a whole.
