I liked Final Fantasy XIII when I played it, but slowly discovering that I was the only one on the planet who DID really kinda puts a damper on my fond memories of the game.

What's weird is that I'm not even an FF fanboy; that was the first FF game I had ever played. Yet I still enjoyed the experience, long though it was.

Atheism was one for me. I don't believe in a god, but I'm actually kind of ashamed to call myself an atheist because I gradually discovered that the vast majority of atheists are easily as biased, closed minded and aggressive as the religions they oppose.

Not sure what to call myself now. I don't really like agnostic, it always sounded indecisive to me. How about Whateverism.

Hype backlash is a bit of a problem, though. Whatever it is, it never lives up to the hype, so the trick is to avoid all input until you try it for yourself.

I quite enjoyed it too, actually. It has problems, but it doesn't deserve the hate it gets on these forums (nor does the JRPG subgenre).

I see what you mean, thats how I feel about DA2 even though I havnt played it, I think Ill really really like it but the fact that alot of people dont love it dampens my enjoyment

Now I'm going to have to go and rent that to play it. I thought it looked good too, but I let everyone else's dislike keep me from playing it (as much as I let my broke as hell pay grade keep me from it).

Other people have ruined online multiplayer games for me for the most part. Mostly for FPS games though, I can still play race games online and not be disgusted by everyone.

If I show something to my parents (music or internet comedians I like) they always point out every little thing they don't like about it, and then I can't stop noticing things like "Oh, Linkin Park's producers use echos and layers too much." or "Nostalgia Critic says 'I mean' and 'It is that bad' a lot."
I've never shown them any games I like because I'm afraid they'll pick it apart until it's lying at my feet in a million bloody tatters.
Don't get me wrong, they're great people - but FUCK I hate how they'll systematically murder everything I like.

My parents do that to comedians I like, only my mom seems to think 'stupid humor' - a la Will Ferrel, isn't funny (and Anchorman was pretty damn funny), and my dad likes Larry the Cable Guy (I mean, ew ). My mom can be judgmental sometimes, and it annoys me to no end.

Whateverisim sounds pretty indecisive too and you shouldn't lie about what you are just because of some other which might spoil the name, although since you say being "close minded" is a problem you have with Atheisim Agnostic would likely be the correct term for you.
OT: When I was playing Prototype I was having tons of fun running around and killing things in a spectacular bloody manner, but when I read reviews of the game that gave it a low score, I stopped enjoying it, which admittedly is absolutely stupid of me.

Yes, this is exactly what happens to me with theatre.

It might just be at my high school, but the theatre department is absolutely filled with loud divas that have no idea how to shut the fuck up when there is an audience just one wall away, or when the stage manager is trying to give us notes on our performance. The fact that our teachers and stage managers get so pissed at them almost ruins the experience for me.

My step-dad is the stereotypical Republican(straight ticket voting, ultra conservative, FOX news, etc...) and believes anything said on the news or in an email. I'm also a Republican and his ignorance makes me disappointed that we are in the same party and people like him trash our image.

Also, we both own guns the difference being I take care of mine, keep them in a safe place, and know where they are... he can't claim any of those. My brother's opinion on guns is that only revolvers are worth a damn and the AK is the be all end all. Despite admitting he doesn't know much about guns he acts like he knows everything and tries to lecture people. Both give firearms enthusiasts a bad name by being careless,ignorant, and close-minded.
