My mom did. She understood the M means for older kids. Still she did buy my brother GTA, because he was playing it so much with his older bod-bro anyway. Still, she didn't buy us all mature games. Mostly because I didn't like mature games. Except for GTA, because I liked driving. I liked Mario more. Around 12-13 she just bought me any game I wanted. (Not that she would buy me a lot of games, like 5 a year). She saw that games didn't affect me in weird ways that you hear about those kids who shoot up their schools.

My parents really couldn't give a monkeys about any ratings as long as it keeps me quiet and away from them they don't care.

and the actual gore is worthy of about a 15 anyway.
1. Blowing zombies heads up
2. A zombie that vomits on you
3. A particular corpse that has been torn in half and its intenstines are sitting in a pile
4. The basement with the blood and the lawnmower

ESRB is a good guideline, but if parents rely on them too much it's really just trying to ignore your kid.

Alright, here's how it is. My father and I both have a PS3 and an Xbox.

We played Saint's Row 2 in Co-Op regularly. He let me play much worse on my own when I was still a teen.

My parents let me buy M games since I have never shown signs of violence or anything like that. They have me and that's enough proof for them to know that soccer moms saying I'll be a drug crazed lunatic are retarded. Normally I have to pay at least half the cost of a game to get it to. Plus they see moms in their with 7 year olds buying GTA.

which bits are 3 and 4 from i dont think i have noticed them yet
and anyway i think gore to most people is pretty meh and i dont thik the ratings board sees how desesetised(sp?) people are to that kind of thing nowadays

When I was underage my mother understood the ratings but didn't really care. She was never overproctective or anything like that. I was raised well enough to understand violence, sex, etc in games were exactly that, in the game. So yeah I never had problems playing whatever game I wanted to.
